We stumbled upon Marcus Diner thanks to its great reviews and proximity to our hotel, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We enjoyed it so much we went twice during our short stay in Portland—once dining in and once grabbing takeaway on our way out of town. The dine-in experience was cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff and a relaxed vibe. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. For our takeaway, everything was packed perfectly and tasted just as good on the go. Every dish we tried was a hit—no misses. Marcus Diner is a gem, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

The staff was above and beyond. The food was amazing. The vibe was so good and they were playing great music. But let’s get back to the food - the Philly is a must and whatever you get, make sure it includes hash browns. You’ll probably be too full for a cinnamon roll, but do yourself a favor and get one to go so you can enjoy later! This doesn’t deserve 5 stars, it gets 10!

Ate here twice over a weekend stay in Portland - once in the diner and the second a takeout order on our way out of town. Yummy breakfast both times. Must try the hobo hash browns....Quite the treat.

I actually ate here years ago during another visit to Portland. (8 years ago ?) For some reason I thought they had closed. Anyway... today I had a delicious western omelette with hash browns and rye toast and delicious coffee...fast friendly staff and service...great atmosphere.

My Beau Hunk and I were in Portland for a change of scenery and my birthday/ our anniversary. We sought out Marcys Diner after reading an article about the owner. As soon as we walked in we knew we would not be disappointed. Every person on staff interacted with us, the food was hot, fast and delicious. We sat at the counter and watched as the breakfasts were made like a well oiled machine. Kim our server was attentive and had an understated personality, which was in stark contrast to the other characters on staff. Kim was ready and willing to give my Beau Hunk back every bit of “agro” that was thrown her way! Lol!
We cannot wait for our next visit to Portland and Marcys Diner. Everyone should make it a point to experience this gem!
