Some of the best falafel, shawarma and gyro in town. The lentil soup is fabulous. You have to ask for it, I don’t think it’s on the menu. If you go inside to order or pickup be sure to look in the display fridge for tabbouleh, hummus, etc. all tastes homemade. Don’t forget some baklava. We never do.
When you’re there say hi to Hassan the fabulous young man behind the counter who cooks your food and possibly everything else.
Mazzat changed owners a couple months ago and the food/recipes are totally different now and not anywhere close to what it used to be. It used to be one of the best middle eastern places in Portland, now it's probably at the bottom of my list. To the old owners/staff - you guys will be missed!
