How people can call Mexican food to this white food restaurant!? Probably is Tex Mex but not Mexican. Lol
Very much like chipotle but locally owned and better food.

The team at MGT worked with me to pull off a birthday party for my wife. 40+ guests attended. We tried all the appetizers and they opened the whole menu to us. All my guests loved their options. The vegetarians in our party were very happy with the choices available.
Collin, the manager, made sure everything was perfect. His staff both in the kitchen and front of the house were courteous, efficient and pleasant. I whole heartedly give Mesa Grande Taqueria my strongest recommendation.

We recently hosted a private event here for a friend's milestone birthday. Collin was so accommodating and easy to work with, and helped us pull off an extremely successful surprise! As usual the food was great and the service was even better. You can tell the people who work there care about providing a great experience and seem to take pride in their work. Highly recommend literally anything on the menu made and served by some of the nicest people!

Today is my 3rd time trying this place. The first time the ingredients looked old and not at all appetizing. I was surprised because it was well over an hour before closing. The second time, around 6:30, everything looks fresh and the food was not bad. This time, 4:30, ingredients are dried out, some are over cooked, not seasoned well. I kept trying because I'm staying nearby, but the inconsistency is too much for me to try again.
Food is delicious & portions are very generous. This is a great place to host work events & gatherings. It is great to see new locally owned places in Portland that offer better service & quality food than the usual chains. HIGHLY recommend their margaritas!!
Vegetarian options: Their tofu is great & locally sourced!

The staff are nice but they definitely have too few people that know what’s going on. I felt bad because the poor guy taking my order barely knew what was going on and was taking ingredients from the wrong bowls. You guys gotta train these people at least. Makes me question what they’re getting paid there.
If you’re going to be a carbon copy of Chipotle but more expensive you need to offer additional value which just isn’t there. The local competition is too high for your business to not stand out. Start pricing these meals in line with how you do in Auburn NY and it would at least provide better value. This place will not last unless it offers a better experience, taste, etc. than Chipotle which it unfortunately does not.
Since Google gives the “atmosphere” option I’ll also throw in that this place makes it worse by how uninspired the decor and general look of this place is. It looks like a sad cafeteria.

Service and food were both fantastic! My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was i do feel it's a bit over priced. That being said everything we ate was very good. The chips and queso are a must and we really enjoyed the pumpkin tree leches.
Another random lunch spot in Portland's Old Port area. The inside had a beachy vibe. The ingredients were very fresh. Great flavor. Plenty of seating inside and out. A must visit again spot! We had burrito bowls, burritos, queso and tacos. Thumbs up!!

Great place for a quick but excellent burrito!!
Vegetarian options: Lime cilantro rice, black beans, sazonada (tofu) basically everything that's not meat is made vegetarian here except the pinto beans.

Barbacoa itself is fine. The chipotle sauce is supposedly their spiciest but it has way more sugar than heat. It was disgustingly sweet. The biggest issue though is that it takes the poor line workers about 5 minutes per person just to scoop the protein onto the tortilla because they spend that long trying to strain the obscene amount of liquid out of each scoop. I wish I was kidding. This was perhaps the most bizarre logistical operation I've ever witnessed. Would not recommend simply because management must be brain dead. But avoid the super sweet chipotle salsa if you do go.
