I had to check out Montes after seeing the 8.3 score by Dave Portnoy and i have to agree with Dave i love this pizza! wow what a treat the dough tastes like it's made with lots of love and all ingredients top notch.

The vegan olive oil cake was good! A little dry but I'm glad they had it. The pizza was a bit too salty and I wish they had something on it either than tomato sauce and one basil leaf but it was good. In a town with limited options, I'm grateful for the ones they have here

We got the vegan Italian sandwich, which is made on hot house made flatbread, and has vegan mozz, pepperoni, olives, hot peppers, spinach, and tomatoes - fresh, hot, and tasty! There is also a vegan cauliflower sandwich and vegan pizza options. Only a few seats along the window in the winter, but a nice patio is available in warmer weather. #Veganuary

Clearly the best pizza. Authentic Roma style and inspired combinations. Salads are top shelve too.

Why can’t you drink beer and wine on the patio? This seems like an oversight.

Coming from Italian experience and travel..... this place by far is a location worth adding to your frequent stops! The items on hand, and the food prepped and made behind the counter.... will have you coming back for more! I'd love indoor seating for the cooler days, but the patio is nice during the warmer days. While typing this, I have a craving for Montes's again and will be visiting there shortly!

The picture doesn't really do it justice. The pizza was great, probably the best I've had since getting to Maine.

I'm a serious Pizza Fanatic. If you look at most of my reviews for restaurants, it's for pizza. The things Montes has going for it

-The dough is even after a half hour drive still crispy.
-They have a good amount of sauce if you like a sauce pizza like I do.
-The cheese has a good flavor and there's not too much of it . They avoided breaking the cheese by over baking it and getting that oil pool on top.

There's not really anything I can complain about to be perfectly frank. The crust is a bit cruncher than I normally go for but that's just a matter of preference. I'll still be back every now and then.

Fine foods market with quality products (including some Maldon smoked sea salt that I’m addicted to), a bakery featuring breads and treats (including vegan options) and a cafe featuring pizza, sandwiches and salads. They also cater. There is some outdoor seating. Service was friendly. Been there a few times for takeout pizza, which has always been delicious-we usually get the funghi pizza and this last time we got the one with potatoes which was uniquely awesome-mounds of mashed potatoes golden and bubbly with cheese.
Their website says to order early to be sure you get the pizza you want. There are some pre made pizzas available if you don’t have time to wait.

Monte's Fine Foods in Portland, ME, is a hidden gem for pizza lovers. Their plain pizza features a thin, crispy base with an airy crunch, excellent sauce, and a delicious combo of mozzarella and finely grated parmesan--simple and perfect. The vegan pizza was equally impressive. Monte's used vegan cheese sparingly, avoiding the usual overly gooey texture and treating it as a topping rather than a main component. With great topping coverage, a nice kick of spice, and that same crispy base, it was just as satisfying as the classic. Monte's delivers quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and a slice for everyone--classic or vegan. Don't miss out!

Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian and vegan options!

Should be 5 stars but today was a two! When its done right its hard to beat it. However, the dough has become inconsistent. Lately and randomly when i get a slice, it’s too thick and sooo disappointing! Wednesday 10/23 too thick! Friday the 11th amazing!

The vegan pepperoni pizza was fantastic. Every element was full of flavor. Being from New York and Connecticut, I was very surprised to find pizza so good this far north. As for the market, the panoply of imports should keep any Italian food enthusiast happy.
