Craving matcha? Aged soy sauce? Unique flavors? This place has it all. I ordered a matcha with oat milk and it was scrumptious. Ive also had the hojicha latte as well and it is to die for. Dont sleep on this place.

Fantastic teas and items I can’t find anywhere else in Portland, beautiful store, delicious coffee, and very nice people!

Awesome ferment shop. Cool selection of kombucha, fermented hot sauce, sauerkraut, and much more. Would love if they carried some tempeh products and amazake!

This place is nuts. Their retail selection is perfectly curated, and everything they do is obviously with intention. I just had an iced coffee with a black sesame cold foam that made me *weep* tears of joy. If you’re visiting Portland or lucky enough to live here, this is a must see.

The strawberry matcha and the mochi cake were fantastic! I will definitely be back. I read in the reviews that they served congee at one point and I'm crossing my fingers they do that again in the future!

The best matcha I’ve ever had. Hands down. They whisk each order to hand in a matcha bowl and you can tell they really put so much pride and care into everything they make. this is a MUST visit if you are a matcha lover! (And lover of all fun food things, still need to go back to explore everything else)

Very good matcha latte (ask if you don't want it sweetened) and excellent baked goods. The cafe is at the back of the shop, and has its own entrance at the side of the building.

The shop has some interesting fermented items and a reasonably good range of teas. Everything is on the somewhat expensive side of things, but I imagine that selling quite niche products, that's just the local market

Black Sesame Foam Hoji blew my mind today. Came in for matcha, got this instead, and really happy about trying a new thing!

My only prior experience (elsewhere) with Hojicha (roasted green tea) was being served hot water with a tea bag of the roasted leaves; today's experience was very different and in every way better.

Hojicha served here is a powder similar to matcha, but rather than the bright green hue of the young unroasted tea leaves, this powder resembles a pale version of cocoa. It is whisked similar to matcha to create a suspension, then they add your choice of milk, and finish it off with a just-sweet-enough black sesame cold foam.

The Hojicha latte had a unique flavor that was both nutty and almost chocolaty. The cold foam was a tad sweet for me, though once mixed with the rest of the drink I thought it worked well, especially as a treat.

Pairs well with their butter mochi :)

Such an amazing stock of ferments and books about it. Go to a the back and try the sourdough chocolate chip cookie. I love cookies and it was the BEST I’ve ever had!!!

Both the drinks and cookies I've tried were delicious. I might be the only person who thinks this, but I wish you could get the iced drinks in a bigger cup with more ice because it melts so fast! Overall, high quality drinks and friendly baristas!

Super helpful and kind staff both in the cafe and the shop- fermented foods and vinegars from all different cultures- lots of cool hot sauces and some rad stuff to try from Maine!

Such a unique and thoughtful business-- felt so intentional with who/what they were stocking. We grabbed some ME-made ferments and salt. We have eaten just about everything we bought. Definitely worth a visit!
