LyAnna and her team were awesome! We are from Miami and visited with our Puerto Rican friends. The restaurant was anything from ordinary in Portland! Amazing food, service, drinks and atmosphere! The vibe was so fun coming from our Miami background and we loved every minute of it! Thank YOU! đŸ©·

Perfect Puerto Rican food in the old port in downtown Portland! Chef Ronnie cooked up an exquisite vegan meal. I will definitely be coming back.

While we didn’t eat, the food we saw looked so good. But the cocktails! Wow! They blew us away! And the service at the bar: top notch. Everyone was so nice and checked on us many times. We even spoke to a local when we were shopping at a store and told them where we went for cocktails and she said “so you had real cocktails if you went to Papi”. Yes, we most certainly did. Thank you Papi Portland for being so nice and creating some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had.

I have been wanting to come to this place for a while. I am quite familiar with Puerto Rican food at this point, having had it both in the Tampa Bay Area and Puerto Rico itself. The food here is TOP NOTCH quality. Best tostones I have ever had!! There are veg friendly empanadas, salad, among other items. The El Yunque is the veg dish to get (I split with my partner and that plus a few apps was more than enough). The service and ambiance were both excellent as well. What put it over the top for me was the drinks. The cocktails were out of this world, possibly some of the best you can get in Portland. Overall HIGHLY recommend.

This place is a gem! Walking by and the place caught my eye! I said to my friends we have to go in here! Decor is beautiful and reminded me of being in PR.....our bartender Elliot was amazing! A true mixologist! He made me probably the best drink I have ever had and they were beautiful! Almost too pretty to drink! And he was so personable.....could have watched him make drinks all day! Got a couple empanadas for the road.....I could have eaten 100 of them! If I could give more stars I would! Definitely one of my first stops next time I'm in Portland!

Papi has been on my list of places to hit in Portland for a while now, and when we finally made it back to Portland after 9 years, it's the first place we headed towards once we checked into our hotel.

I can't express how happy this place made me. We fortuitously got 2 seats at the bar right in front of bartender-owner LyAnna and right before we had a chance to have a conversation, it was clear that she put heart and soul into the beverages and is very proud of Papi. The ambiance takes you back to PR, not in a kitschy way, but the decor really reflects the feel of what it's like to visit an establishment in Puerto Rico. Music selection was dope. Pernil was juicy and tender, the arroz con gandules was tasty, and a small salad balanced the plate out. The 4 drinks we tried all knocked it out of the park. La-FactorĂa-who? There's a conscious effort to elevate latinx spirits, and demonstrate boricua culture through the writings in the menu. I'm so sad something like this doesn't exist closer to Boston but am glad it has a home in Portland.

Salud!

Papi has created a fantastic space, innovative cocktails (if you're a Mezcal fan, try the Tamarindo Lindo with its peppered rim!), and delicious food. Enjoy the lively and sophisticated bar scene with a long, curving bar filled with diverse and interesting people. The bar list is impressive. We loved the lentil empanadas, the guisado on special, and the staple pernil with arroz con gandules. Wrapped it all up by splitting the coffee flan. Next time, we'll do an empanada and street taco binge. A great addition to Portland's ever evolving food scene! Insider's tip: parking is difficult and time limited on busy Exchange Street, so come early. Personally, I spring for the $5 per hour fee at Dimillos Restaurant lot on Commercial Street. It's a short walk and if you stop in for a pre or post drink on the floating boat, the restaurant will validate your ticket.

We've been to Papi twice in the last few months and each time we've been blown away by how amazing this place is! First off, LyAnna at the bar knows how to create a tasty and unique beverage, and adjusts with your palette in mind. No one I know of is a better bartender/drink creator than her! Second, the food is simply delicious and deeply satisfying. I had the Churrasco, a really tasty/yummy steak, and my spouse had a salad (which she said is one of the best salads she's ever had) and street tacos. We also shared the lovely and mouthwatering Flan for dessert. We left with a smile on our faces and full bellies. Third, the ambiance! From the second you walk in you feel transported (like am I still in Portland Maine?) in the best way possible. Lush colors and fine detailed walls blend and compliment. Absolutely a dreamy dining experience in every way!!!

Love the food and the different drinks. If they could just tone the music down just a tad bit. I felt like I was screaming for my party to hear me.
