Food is decent. If I get food from here I always order the chicken mole enchiladas. They are very good. I always ask for extra rice/refried beans because the amounts they give standard is not enough to eat with the 3 enchiladas. I yet to get any extra rice or beans when I ask. The only way I seem to be able to get extra is if I order an entire side of rice + an entire side of beans. If I do this I have way too much rice & beans for the meal.. so I just order elsewhere to make it easier because I can’t seem to get the proportions I want. Sucks because I would order from here more if I could get extra rice/beans given I live next store. Aside from that it all seems okay.. it’s classic middle of the road American/mexican food?

Went to eat here with my husband while visiting the Portland Maine area. The restaurant is very small, but very welcoming. We had great service and the food was overall very tasty worth the money for sure. Only complaint I had was the guacamole was clearly not made fresh and was a little tasteless. Other than that definitely worth the money and definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area come eat here they’re not going to disappoint you.

I'm from Southern California and have been looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in Maine and I'm so happy that I finally found one. Food was fresh and authentic. From the rice, beans and guacamole to the mole. They bring chips and salsa to the table which the chips were tasty and crisp. The salsa was smooth in texture (I prefer a chunkier texture) but the flavor was there and again, it was fresh. I ordered a margarita, I'm very particular about them, and this one was perfect! It wasn't too sweet, but perfectly tart. Great overall experience I definitely recommend.

Came to Portland on vacation, walked to El Corazon and had the greatest chimichanga ever. Great place and nice employees.

Tried El Corazon for the first time today. Immediately felt welcomed by Abby, who provided excellent service to every guest in the building and made me feel personally welcomed and taken care of on a lonely day in my new town. Food was great, only marked 4 because I want to try more things and update later, but the service & atmosphere created by Abby is why I'll bring my family back.

I was looking forward to this restaurant and I did not have a good experience. Margaritas were way too sweet. The chips were very stale, and the salsa tasted old and flavorless. I had the goat birria, and I got terrible food poisoning. The rice and beans I got with my entree were ice cold.

Service seemed fine, ordered take out, friendly man handed me my food. I got the shrimp burrito with side of refried beans, & guacamole. Burrito was pretty good, no real complaints there but as I was eating the refried beans I noticed this large glob (see picture) that I think is lard??? Kinda grossed me out and kinda ruined the rest of the meal for me :/ also the guacamole is very clearly not made in house so that’s disappointing, really wanted to like this place.

When I first moved to Portland from Florida, I was skeptical about a Hispanic restaurant in Maine. My standards were high and this spot did not disappoint. The food is on par with some of the best Hispanic restaurants down South. The staff is friendly and attentive. Whenever my friends or family visit, I make sure to bring them here. It's a shame I'm taking a promotion and leaving Portland. I will definitely eat here when I come back.

Food looks good in the pictures, but was very tasteless. The server did not bother to give us any sauces or even wait for us to ask her anything. She would bring us one thing and run. Was very curt with a responses too. I had to ask my child to get hot sauce from another table. We ended up leaving most of the food on our plates untouched but not even a question from the server.

Ordered in for a bean and cheese burrito there was plenty of refried but mostly every other feeling was below the refried at the bottom inch of the burrito wasnt a fan. When asked at the beginning I said I'd have another beer half way through instead the bar tender was talking so I didn't get one and was asked after I finished my meal so I declined. Asked about a dessert kind of had a sweet tooth so I ordered the flan there was hardly any carmel sauce and it wasn't a pudding consistency more like a rice pudding it may have been finished too early during the bake. 2.5 stars.
