Crazy expensive and not super friendly. Why did I just spend 15 bucks on a premade egg sandwich?
I just went to Rose Foods to drop off a tax form for a former employee, as it came to my address, though tenant had moved out last October and hadn't left a forwarding address. I went to one of the counters where a woman was boxing something up, and she said that if I was there to order food, the counter was just to my left. I said I wasn't there to order food. I asked if the person was or used to be an employee, and I had some papers in my hands. She said there was no one there by that name and threw the papers back across the counter at me. She didn't ask me what my concern was, or why I was handing her paperwork. I said the papers were tax documents that Rose Foods had sent to the former employee's last known (to them) address, but she no longer lived with me, and the papers needed to go to their office. It was the manner in which she threw the papers back to me, and the brusqueness with which she talked to me. I actually told her she was rude. She said "I'm not being rude." But she was--dismissive, brusque, and actually surly. Why someone has to act this way in a place of business ... I don't know. I did then go back to ask for her name, which she refused to give me. She asked me what my name was, and I gave it to her. She was tallish, blond hair.

if i could give negative stars i would. Waited 35 mins for a mediocre sandwich. They don’t use real eggs they’re substitute eggs, no pork so don’t count on getting something similar to new york or jersey, didn’t even have american cheese. 35 mins of my morning wasted I could’ve made a better one at home.

I had the salami egg and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel, it was delicious. The only thing was the price. the sandwich and a small green tea was $17 I think it was a bit high but I'm not from Portland and not sure how the economy is here. Sandwich was delicious 😋 again.

Best Bagel I've ever had. I just got an everything bagel with plain cream cheese.... and it was SO yummy! The CRONCH and flavor plus the ratio of cream cheese to bagel were all spot on.
Only thing NOT to love about this place is parking. but they can't control that.

Best bagels in town. Their little shop is so cute and even when they're busy, the wait is never long.

Amazing bagels, cream cheese, and lox!!! The latkes were also great! Here for a week on our honeymoon and will probably come here every morning for breakfast ?!
Dietary restrictions: Peanut and shellfish allergy - they prepared the sandwiches in a separate area away from their peanut butter and were very accommodating.

Small little bagel shop with friendly servers. I ordered their classic gravlox and it came to $16. Not bad but not really worth the price, I'm just as happy with Mr Bagel.

The bagel sandwich was good enough but definitely not worth $20. the person working the cash register on this Saturday morning was incredibly rude to all customers. Unhelpful in answering questions, made us feel stupid for even asking. Terrible demeanor, and honestly even if the bagel was fine enough I’m probably going to find another place in portland to spend my $ at. Except a long wait (which I was fine with considering how popular it is)

Love love love the whitefish salad bagel sandwich specifically on the rye bagel. It’s so delish and the ideal texture. Service is friendly and atmosphere makes you want to be a regular. Cant recommend going enough. Oh and the pickles are perfect.

The best part about this place was the general atmosphere. I liked their back dining area and seeing people socializing and reading the newspaper - felt wholesome. However, I was not impressed with my bagel. To start, I’ve never been to a bagel place that would have a menu up that wouldn’t include adding cream cheese to a bagel. I would think the person taking orders would inform the person ordering of this. Why would I order just a bagel and lox? It also took 35 minutes to get two bagel sandwiches. I’ve never waited that long for a bagel, even in downtown NYC at the busiest of times with a line out the door. The bagel was ok for such a high price. It was way too hard and crunchy. I probably won’t come back which sucks because I had heard good things.

The L Train bagel is a delicious vegetarian option. The only downside was the long wait (thus 4 stars), 35+ mins on a Saturday. Seems like the pro tip from locals is to order online and pickup when ready.
Vegetarian options: Very limited vegetarian options for bagel sandwiches- just the L Train, but it was delicious!
