Shipyard BreweryIt is noteworthy to mention upfront that the brewers of Shipyard Brewery studied under Alan Pugsley.Alan Pugsley came to the U.S. in 1986 and started a brewery in Portland, Maine. His love of brewing led him to assist with the start of more than 80 breweries in North America. He learned his craft at the Ringwood Brewery in Hampshire, England.Shipyard brews on-site. I sampled four beers. Each beer had its own character and was went down very easy. Make sure to stop in for a brew or two if you find yourself in Portland, ME.

Shipyard Brewing Company has been on my " to try" list apparently and I got the opportunity to try one of their beers and it wasn't bad at all. I got their Pumpkin Head beer. As the name implies it's a pumpkin beer and these types of beers I scale very lightly on during Autumn because the "pumpkin spice" phase is everywhere during that time of year and you almost find it in anything so Steve and I make a strong effort to maybe get one dose of pumpkin for beer or a latte and call it good for the year as we hit burn out decades ago and Shipyard was the winning one for us this year. The Pumpkin Head pumpkin beer isn't bad. I will say I have had ones that I preferred a bit more but it's a fun beer to try out. It's a very light beer that is lightly sweet along with flavor highlights of pumpkin, cinnamon and other spices associated with the pumpkin spice phenomenon. A very suitable beer for our "one" pumpkin flavored option of choice for October.

Nice tucked away brewery in Portland. Very spacious inside. Had the famous Pumpkin Wheat Beer and it was pretty good. Definitely liked the Interior space if this brewery.

As a beer lover we were excited to visit shipyard. The pumpkin beer is one of my faves ! Parking is kind of crummy , but if you Uber or go during the week you have a good shot of finding street parking. The taproom is welcoming and the staff super friendly. They had a large beer list so there is something for everyone. They do flights so that's what we did. Everything we tried was tasty. They have food which we didn't get a chance to try but what others had looked delicious. It's a def must stop if your around there.

We wanted beer and being that we were visiting the area I had no clue of anything. Well, I found this gem and whew I totally won!!! We walked in and we were like WE ARE HOME, lol. The customer service was good, but a little strange. I get back to that in a bit. The guy in the front was excellent and kind and smiled and I could tell he loved his job. I wish I had names to provide. He helped us with choices and what was good and even gave us samples. I love IPAs so I said give me the best!! The beer was delicious. My favorite was the Hazelnut beer. It was really good and I wish I could have taken a 6 pack back home to LA, lol.Can you guys deliver beer to Los Angeles, lol? We also decided to order a pizza. The beer was strong and I was already feeling tipsy happy. Well, when I went back up to order the pizza, a rude customer interrupted me while I was providing my order and suddenly I became invisible. A different guy than before started helping the rude lady instead. He walked away from me! The last time I looked, I was not a bad-looking woman, lol. I mean I was literally cut off in mid-sentence and left standing there like a lost child. I didn't make a scene because I am a happy tipsy drinker, not a mean one. I let that mean customer finish. Well, the guy came back and took my order and he never apologized for what happened. he acted as if it was normal. This is where the customer service got a bit strange. This place could have kept the full 5-star rating but he didn't even acknowledge what happened and apologize for her and for walking away from me. I was literally a peasant I guest. Well, we got our pizza and it was EXCELLENT. I needed it for sure. This spot is 5 stars EASY, but the strange customer service experience knocked two stars off. I will go back for sure nonetheless if I am ever in Portland again.

Stopped in to meet some old friends (and new) after running the marathon. Beer selection had something for everyone and their food menu looked good even thought I didn't partake. Nothing to complain about here!

Great service, thank you for letting us taste a couple of items! Yummy hazelnut porter and pumpkin head ale. Fun but relaxing atmosphere.

We like Shipyard’s pumpkin beer when we had it back in California so decided to go to the brewery to have it there. We were so excited to try it out. Just note that the initial smell can be overwhelming at first but it’s just bc it’s normal brewery smell. The beers were good and we enjoyed the pumpkin beer and the blueberry beer from Sea Dog Brewing the best. But those we’ve had back at home before. None of the new ones we tried were too memorable. Nice decorations of the place though and friendly bartenders.

Had fun here. Was with a friend that enjoys their pumpkin beer so we stopped to see what else they made. Kind of nice they paired up with Sea Dog so there was multiple beers to pick from. We got a couple flights and enjoyed it. Big portion of this place is the store too but there were plenty of tables to sit and enjoy the beer.

I love shipyard pumpkin head, so I may be a bit biased with the review. The taproot was a really good time, though, and the shop had lots of beer and gifts to choose from. It's definitely a must stop if you're in Portland.
