I'd probably rate this 4 stars overall, but the portions were ridiculously small. This was not advertised as a tapas/small plate restaurant. The food was good, but it was hard to get a feel for it when my pasta dish had maybe 1/2-2/3 of a cup of cooked pasta. Same with my wife's pasta dish. I realize this is a pet peeve of mine, but homemade or not, pasta is easily the cheapest food item to provide. I get cutting back on the lobster or lamb. But pasta? If you want to charge $25 for a plate of pasta, put a half pound in there. I'm sure they can afford the extra .75 cents to do so.

First time in for my Girlfrienda birthday weekend and everything was 10/10. the focaccia with burrata was unbelievable. Both of our meals were off the charts. And I'm so sorry i forget the waitress name but she was great as well! Overall can't wait to come back and visit Portland because we will certainly be back.

Imagine a cold, damp April night in Portland Me. Not to difficult right? Solo is a warm, cozy spot that always makes you feel like you are a welcomed friend. The Pizza bruschetta is amazing and the lamb chops are amazing. We go to Solo a lot. All they need is a fireplace. Fantastic in so many ways!

Solo is a divine restaurant that delivers authentic, northern Italian coastal cuisine that is simply so good you will feel transported to Italy with every bite. Some folks get upset that portions are too small, this is not the type of restaurant you go to for heaped over plates of pasta and chicken Parmesan. This is the type of place where the menu changes daily, where every piece of gnocchi and ravioli is made by hand, in-house. Why are the flavors and textures so good? Because everything is made from scratch with the finest in season ingredients money can buy. The waitstaff is AMAZING, they have a deep knowledge of the menu and the beverages. Trust the waitstaff to craft a meal for you and Solo will not disappoint.

PHENOMENAL! The food, the atmosphere and the wine selection were all fantastic! The server was knowledgeable, attentive and provided great advice when it came to choosing drink, appetizers, main course and even dessert. I would highly recommend making a reservation and trying out this exceptional restaurant.

Best place to spend Easter dinner! Traditional foods and a warm atmosphere. We had such a lovely time. The food was amazing, the service was just right-friendly but efficient, and just a lot of care taken with every detail. My husband especially enjoyed the specialty cocktail and the wine recommendation was spot on with our dinner. Thankful to have such an authentic Italian restaurant in Portland. Always worth our drive down.

Great dinner. Food was exquisitely prepared. Highly professional staff. Loved the atmosphere with rustic brick. Potions were just enough that we had 3 courses and were satisfied but not over full. Highly recommend house made pastas.

I'm sorry, but charging $36 for a modest portion of gnocchi is absurd, and $50 for a fish entree is just a blatant rip off. The food was good, but the prices are unlike anything I've seen.

Service is excellent. Solo is always adding new and inventive dishes, while keeping some classics for continuity. We love sitting at the bar, great ambiance!

When I enter a restaurant I judge it immediately how I'm greeted. The hostess was attentive immediately. The ambience was very welcoming with beautiful lighting. I found the staff to be extremely helpful explaining and recommending the perfect wine that would compliment my entree . There's no question my husband and I will be back.

Simply magnificent meal at Solo Italiano last night. We celebrated all the March ocasions — two birthdays and two anniversaries. ❤️ We had the same wonderful server that we had last year, who guided us on menu and wine selections. Truly an authentic Italian experience, many times during the meal I thought of my grandfather, who came here from Italy. We also met Chef Paolo, the creator of all this deliciousness.

The food was delicious. The bucatini with uni was divine, but the portion was a bit small. My husband had the rib eye which was pretty pricey for a small portion as well. I would recommend and return.

Food presentation and tastes were excellent. We enjoyed the wide selection of small dishes as we tend to share while dining out as a preference. Interesting twists to traditional Italian fare.Excellent service.Recommended with enthusiasm.
