First day in Portland, stumbled by this spot-best decision. Friendly staff, delicious pastries. The young man was so nice to warm my cinnamon bun. I am excited to return the next day and my next trip back to Portland ?

Me and my wife got coffee I got a hot latte it tasted like a mushroom coffee or some other coffee alternative. My wife ordered the fruity pebbles special which she said was pretty good the price was a bit much for why we got.

I love the speckled ax on congress street. this one was horrific. not sure if the milk was bad but i asked them to remake my bf and my drink because the taste was so sour and off. they remade and it still tasted like that. it was like... a funky rotted wood smell. pretty sure the milk was bad. hope that was just the case. i was so excited for this coffee and it was such a let down. stick to the congress st location.

Nice spot near the water. I'm sure it gets busy during tourist season since it is near the cruise ships. During the winter it's a nice place to relax, read, and enjoy a coffee.

As a roaster they are excellent, but the baristas here are shockingly bad. My cappuccino milk was terribly overheated and a complete mess, and it’s now happened 3 times. Don’t waste your money here - go to Moonday or Tandem where they actually care about the quality of coffee they

It took a solid 15 minutes to get our drinks (iced mocha and mocha). The drinks were good but if that is the normal wait for drinks I'd look at other options. Definitely one of the better coffees I had but also the slowest service.

$9.00 for a tepid small cup of hot chocolate and a cookie?

I have been in a few times and enjoyed the coffee and atmosphere. I was in today and wanted to shoutout to the staff who handled a very rude customer with calm and integrity.

Recommended: Absolutely, for the best breakfast sandwich experience. Overall: A standout café offering an exceptional breakfast sandwich and great coffee, though with a note on service organization. Snapshot: Food: 5/5 Drink: 5/5 Vibe: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Value: 4/5 ‍‍ Family-Friendly: NA Highlights: Perfect For: Indulging in a top-notch breakfast sandwich Don't Miss: The artisanal English muffin with rich, savory bacon, balanced by spread and pickled onions Bonus Tip: Arrive early to avoid sell-out disappointments and enjoy your meal with a waterfront view All The Details: Speckled Axe in Portland delivered the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had, bar none. My husband and I have been raving about it since, even attempting to recreate it for my birthday breakfast. Along with a great cup of coffee and a bakery item, this café epitomizes the perfect morning, especially when on vacation. Portland is brimming with cafés, but Speckled Axe stands out. Their breakfast sandwich strikes a perfect balance of flavors - rich, savory bacon on an exquisitely crafted artisanal English muffin, perfectly complemented by the spread and pickled onions. Each ingredient is thoughtfully selected, with no single component overshadowing the others. The only caveat is the service organization. On our first visit, we waited in line for nearly half an hour, only to find the sandwich sold out. A heads-up to those in line would have been helpful. Despite this, the staff's friendliness made up for the frustration. Determined, we returned earlier the next day and were rewarded with the breakfast sandwich of our dreams. Opting for a scenic meal across the street by the water was the perfect start to our morning. Located a bit away from the main downtown area, Speckled Axe is well worth the detour. It's a definite must-visit, and we'll surely return on our next trip to Portland.

-NO WIFI- they should update this Yelp page -Not a great place to work for the day. They don't have blinds so the sun just beats down on your face -Coffee is decent. I got the house special fruity pebbles, not too sweet. - staff is kind

The morning bun is very freaking good! The flash cooked iced coffee is good but I’m more of a cold brew guy. Cool vibe and nice view of the water. The staff is wonderful!!
