Over the past year I have been in Portland and this is my home town. The morning crew especially Kat and Lilly rock it. It’s a busy place they are dealing with tourists, folks off the street and business people. They do it all with kindness and professionalism. This is a great Starbucks. I go out of my way to come here. They remember the coffee order and are so motivated. Caleb is also great. He gets overshadowed by the star power of Kat. Hard for him but he is a pro. Congrats to Veronica for her great store. Honestly motivated had working baristas delivering a great coffee. Viva Comercial Street !!

On vacation went to the Starbucks in the old Port area of Portland. Ordered a coffee and had to wipe down the table because it was dirty. Then had to use the restroom got the code reluctantly from an employee. When I went to wash my hands, there was no soap. Then I went back to the table and was sitting next to the counter with the sugar and napkins, etc.. I noticed there was not one napkin in the dispenser. I looked up at the barista area and there were three employees standing there talking amongst themselves. A while later, an employee came by with a rag and barely cleaned the area, sweeping the crumbs and such on the floor and air in my direction. Napkins never got reloaded. All in all it was a dirty experience and the employees were apathetic and lazy.

Let me paint a picture for those who are looking for a great Starbucks experience.
I just lost my job and my dog within the same week and was honestly at my lowest walking along the old port cobblestone. I thought, hey, maybe I can get a caramel macchiato and a pup cup in remembrance of my dearly departed. It was when I approached the counter that the worker Mikey, must have seen the terrible emotions upon my face and took the time to make sure I had a great experience; he even let me grieve, all while he was on the clock. He may not remember me, but I will certainly remember the kindness I was shown during my quick stop. Thank you guys for all you do!

It was nicely air conditioned and in a good location, which I appreciated. However, when I asked for the restroom code, a staff member looking annoyed responded with an unnecessarily sharp “Can you step off?” despite me only slightly approaching the counter area. The tone felt dismissive for a customer interaction.

I’ve been to a ton of fantastic Starbucks locations, but this one falls short in customer service. I understand Starbucks has a no public restroom policy, however there’s no need to be rude and condescending when asked. A polite no works just fine.

Very kind and friendly baristas. The bathroom has the coolest sink I have ever seen. My drink was fantastic
I’m from Atlanta Ga where the Starbucks employees are extremely friendly.I got the feeling at this store they don’t t like customers. Never a thank you or a smile which costs nothing! Glad I’m returning to Atlanta.

I’m a loyal Starbucks customer who frequently visits stores across Boston and beyond. I often stop in to work quietly, and I’ve never had an issue—until today, at this Portland location.
A barista named Cat approached me while I was working and said, “If you don’t make a purchase, you can’t stay here.” I responded politely that I’d just leave, to which she replied, “You don’t have to leave—you just have to buy something.” The tone, not the policy, is what I found so off-putting. It came across as rude, entitled, and unnecessary.
This wasn’t about coffee. It was about tone, class, and respect. If Starbucks truly aims to be a welcoming “third space” for professionals and creatives alike, team members like Cat need serious training on how to communicate without unnecessary attitude or condescension.
Coming from out of state, I am basing this review compared to local Starbucks. Starting with the baristas, the staff is great. I have no issues with service.
The drinks we had, the blackberry sage lemonade is horribly sweet. I couldn't drink it as it was so sweet. I ended up borrowing some of my spouse's unsweetened ice tea to make it drinkable. Otherwise, it was a waste of $5.
Maybe it was the time we were there (3 p.m. during the weekend), but there were no tables available. The line for drinks was long, but it moved fast. We did end up having to get our drinks and leave or stand at the counter where the line was crowded. That makes the atmosphere less appealing.

After my fifth bag of IV dripp coffee the barista cut me off and told me to go to a bar and sober up.
