Get the coffee liquor. So tasty. Coffee flavor is intense and bold. Great for mixers or on the rocks.
Literally driven here on three different occasions and been closed for private parties.I’ve had your food and drink before and it’s good, but you guys are quite out of the way for me to constantly be let down. If you’re gonna close for private parties all the time just do that instead of acting open to the public ?♀️ Makes no sense. I almost called to ask if you would be open but assumed a Saturday night at 7:30pm I’d be safe but guess not. Good thing Bissell brothers next door was open.
Wonderful smashed burger and elegantly done cocktails, with reasonable prices and a nice patio. I'm a big fan.
Skip the food and the FYI beer was in cans. The $15 ceasar salad was a bed of lettuce the $17 burger was 2 patties with mustard and frys. The good news is they comped the burger we didn't get and a few other items. Not sure if it was a kitchen or operations thing but either way it was not a good experience. We will not be returning.
S’nice place to have a drink. Would recommended.
I had the Monk's Retreat, it was well balanced but strong. Service was friendly and prompt. Small but nice sunny place to sit outside. Pretty empty inside around 3:30 on Sunday except for a family eating in a booth with kids. Good stop before or after the cyrptozologology museum. Ample parking but paid. We parked in lot by trail for a few hours and didn't get tickted.
Conveniently located across from the Children's Museum, we popped in for lunch with our 2 children and were extremely happy with this place! The staff was friendly and the food was absolutely delicious! Our kids loved the Mac & Cheese and large pretzel and we loved the Loaded Tots and Jalapeno Poppers. The bartender made our kids a cute mocktail, and the Windigo was excellent. Thanks Chef Adam!
There are no bad choices at Stroudwater. The cocktails are consistently creative and often divinely inspired. Bartender Jake is the man to see. My current favorite is the Guava Girl, but, honestly, I’ve been a fan of this distillery since they opened several years ago and have yet to order a drink I didn’t enjoy. The food here is easy to devour. Chef Adam makes a fantastic BBQ brisket & his burgers are truly delicious.
The cocktails were great (nice glasses and garnishes, good attention to detail) and the bartender, Jake, was super friendly and really knew his stuff and made good recommendations and customized the experience as he read us perfectly as cocktail art enthusiasts. The special mac n' cheese with pulled pork was excellent and the chef was obviously proud of it as should have been.
Horrible, horrible service. My fiancé and I attended trivia night this Wednesday, March 23. We arrived early, as the Facebook page indicated to do so. We were seated by the trivia host and were greeted by our waitress a few minutes later. We placed a drink order and perused over the dinner menu for her return. The drinks were dropped at our table a few minutes later and she left before we could ask about food. Trivia had started about 20 minutes later, we had finished our first round, and still no food order placed or checked in on. Another 30 minutes goes by. Our waitress is making multiple rounds to tables… except ours. After the 3rd time of being ignored, we flagged down another waiter to place a food and drink order. This gentlemen was phenomenal, and really stepped in during a bad experience. A second drink order was placed and he advised the kitchen was backed up and would be about 30 minutes before our food comes out. I understood and said no problem. 1.25 hours later, trivia is over, our second round has been gone for 30 minutes, our food finally arrives. We’re now one of the last people in the restaurant. We finish our meal, our original waitress makes another appearance to deliver the check and ask my fiancé if she’d like a box. She replies yes. Again, we wait…and wait… and wait… FOR A BOX. I see her come out of the back without a box and chatting with another employee. Clearly forgot about the box. I waive down the same gentlemen who helped us before and ask for a box, again. He brings the box and apologized. We live in Portland and frequent many restaurants around town, and this was our first time here but was easily the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I am a very patient person, especially during current times with staffing issues. But this was just blatant disregard for my fiancé and I. If she didn’t want to service us, ask us to order at the bar. I would have had no problem with that. But we watched her service multiple tables, multiple times… while our glasses stood empty at the end of the table and no food order placed until 1 hour after we first arrived. The only thing saving this place from a 1 star review was the good pizza, a great trivia host, and the waiter who stepped up when we waived him down.

Tasty cocktails, and a fun environment. The Trivia, on Thursdays, will humble you. Cheers to the great staff at SD!
Nice atmosphere and an excellent Bloody Mary.
I've been to the distillery a few times now, but discovered it a couple years back on a road trip to Maine with friends. Now whenever I stop in Portland I make sure to grab a bottle to take back to Mass. The atmosphere was really clean and cozy in a deconstructed kind of way. The staff are really kind and always offer up an honest opinion on recommendations. Great spirits all around from a local distillery!
The bachelorette party I brought to Stroudwater had the best time. Jake was awesome in helping to organize everything for us including creating a custom cocktail menu that perfectly reflected the bride. We enjoyed getting to see the production side of things and learn more about the spirits before getting to taste them. Maddie was so great in keeping everyone’s drinks fresh and organizing and leading the tasting. The spirits and cocktails were awesome and everyone loved the food as well, especially the pretzel board. I would definitely recommend a visit to Stroudwater for anyone visiting Portland and cannot wait to go back myself.
Great cocktails from their home-distilled spirits!
