If I could give 10 stars, I would. This place is AMAZING in every way. The coffee is the best I've ever tasted, nothing compares. I love going to this location for their pour over coffee!!! Okay and their scones are out of this world. But what really gets me about this location specifically is the service. Everyone that works here genuinely loves their job and brings such a feel good ambience with their big smiles and eagerness to help and share their knowledge of coffee! A MUST visit - and I strongly encourage you to take some beans home!!!

Just happened to be walking by here and decided to grab a coffee. The pastries looked to good to pass up. Their black coffee was very good and the jalapeno cheddar biscuit and raspberry scone w/ pistachio frangipane were great as well. We spent 8 days in Portland, Bar Harbor, and Boston and this was one of our favorite morning stops of them all.

Tandem serves an excellent espresso, lots of complex flavors. The service was good, the store was clean and quaint. Parking was easy and plentiful. I'll be back whenever I'm back in Portland.
Update: Been back several times, now. Always excellent drinks and the bakery goods are excellent, as well. Highly recommended.

I wish I could give them over 5 stars! I came in asking about what coffee beans to buy and the worker was so knowledgeable and shared indepth info about recommendations for what type of coffee I like! The staff was so friendly, had attention to detail, and the cappuccino was incredible! I will be ordering beans online in the future since I’m from out of town! Stepped into the roasters and they were also so sweet! A must to visit if you’re in Portland!

Tandem is, without question, one of the best coffee roasters in the country.
The coffees they source and roast are high quality and expertly roasted. They are committed to finding environmentally sustainable solutions for packaging their coffee and are highly transparent about that process and where they have room to improve.
As a coffee shop, their locations are beautiful and well designed, their staff are charming and friendly and knowledgeable, and their merch is top notch. There’s really nothing more I could ask from a coffee shop and roaster.
I regularly order their single origin coffees for brewing at home and am consistently impressed by the flavors and quality.
I literally have nothing to complain about with Tandem. No constructive criticism. Just high fives all the way around.
If you’re in Portland looking for a great coffee shop to visit, Tandem is what you’re looking for. If you’re a home brewer looking for excellent coffees from a great company, Tandem is what you’re looking for.

I ended up coming here three days in a row while traveling. The baristas were genuinely warm, kind, and attentive, and it was clear how much joy they brought to both regulars and new visitors alike. The food and espresso were exceptional—every single thing I tried impressed me (my favorite: kimchi cheddar scone). On top of that, the space itself is cozy and full of charm.
Absolutely worth a stop!

All I can say is WOW! I’m an out of towner and truly had a lovely experience with Tandem. The kimchi scone was seriously so good I could’ve eaten 3 more after it. Their pastries are elevated, complex, and soooo well made. This level of care can also be said for their coffee. I had an espresso shot of their Kenya. It was balanced, smooth, and truly delightful. I ended up buying a bag to take home with me that was now impressive that shot was! Everyone working was extremely friendly and made my morning so delightful. Thank you for the great experience!

My family and I went to Tandem when visiting from out of town. The staff was lovely, warm, and kind. Their generousity of spirit and delicious coffee made us sad that we all live so far away and could not make Tandem a regular haunt.
