I heard about this place from a video blog I saw on social media from a few years ago and I was so excited to check it out. But I was so disappointed by what I saw. In theory the idea is wonderful. The space is great. But the plants I saw (except the ones for terrariums specifically) were incredibly neglected. Bone dry pots, dead leaves, burnt leaves, etc. However every plant I asked the employee about, her answer was “I don’t know what that is”, the owner only seemed interested in those who were actively looking to build terrariums and when I asked him to explain what a terrarium is because I genuinely didn’t know, all he said was “it’s very low maintenance” I also had my son with me and the website said it was wheel chair accessible but when I arrived the ramp was closed and I had to (with help from the owner) bring him down the stairs in his wagon. The owner admitted that the ramp was closed for some reason that was “his problem” he did apologize which was nice and I appreciated the help. But yeah, very disappointed. Didn’t want to buy a plant there because of how poor the conditions were. Would not recommend at this point, and hopefully they will put more effort into the care of their product because in theory it is such a wonderful addition to southern Maine

Stopped in here while visiting from out of state and had a great time. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and helped me put together a great terrarium to bring home. They had a lot of neat plants available and some great example pieces to use for inspiration.

Coolest spot in Portland - a fantastic plant shop that walks you through building your own terrarium and provides you with all the supplies and plants you need. Went with a group and had a fantastically fun time

My wife made a big terrarium with isopods and is currently excited over them, making a little den inside. I made a small one with an obelisk and a wolf statuette howling at it.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Snacks were tastey.

What a special gem to have here in Portland. The environment Rob and Anna have created is unique as it is inviting. The staff are helpful and down-to-earth and the food and drinks are great. Most importantly, the chance to play, experiment, and create so freely is a salve against the worries of the world. I’d highly recommend making Terrarium your first thought for a date night, family visit, lazy Sunday, or really any reason.

So much fun! They have so many great choices for terrariums or even a bog garden with carnivorous plants. The staff is super friendly and helpful! They have great choices for the terrarium plants. They also have lots of already made ones that you can use as ideas. I definitely recommend visiting here and making one. They even supply food and drinks!

This is such a unique gem of an experience! Love the place, love the people, love the plants! It’s wonderful that all of the ‘stuff’ is included in the price of the vessel, so it removes any financial considerations from the creative process.
