Probably the best steaks you'll have in Maine.
I not one to complain and I generally give people the benefit of the doubt. It started out by us ordering two Italian old fashions. The waitress said “would you like cubes or an ice ball”? We both said “ball”. We then proceeded to order a wedge salad, a couple of appetizers, a steak, and two sides. To move this forward, we get the bill and they charged us $3 for each ice ball and $5 for a plate to split the wedge. Are you kidding me!!!! They brought the wedge on one plate and I split it! I politely asked the waitress and she just shrugged her shoulders. I then said “as a learning experience, maybe you should tell the customers about this up charge when they order things. She said “take it out of my tip”. That’s not the answer I was looking for. I paid the bill and left. Do better please. Your establishment relies on good reviews. Not a pleasant experience.

The menu is so overly priced. We paid so much for a 32 oz steak, and when we got it, was so much smaller than 32 oz.
It was delicious but we paid so much money for so little food. I woke up hungry that night.

Our bartender Javier was awesome! Joked around with everyone, it was a great time! Food was perfect, atmosphere was great! Will definitely be going back 😊
The best meal we have ever had! Our new favorite. Attentive servers and bartender. Our new favorite and we can't wait to return. Entrees are enough for 2 people to split!
I was looking forward to trying The Rooms I had heard so much about. The restaurant seating was crowded with the two person tables about 18 inches apart and not enough room on the table to accommodate appetizers and dinners at the same time. We kept getting side eye from the couple next to us because we were talking and they obviously wanted quiet. It was so loud my husband couldn't hear me sometimes. My back was uncomfortable because it was against a wall shared by the bar and patrons were leaning and banging into it in the bar area and my back felt it. The appetizers were good, but when my half bird meal came, all my food was piled on top of eachother in the middle of the plate. It looked awful. I couldn't substitute the spinach, so I had to scrape it away to find the rice and pork belly. We had a certificate and the whole meal came to $222. The only other time I psyed that much was at Hells Kichen at Foxwoods. I would go back there every year, but the rooms won't see me again. If you want to charge that much, you need a quieter atmosphere with spacious seating and food with better plating and more wait staff. Ours was good, but was tending to too many tables and made mistakes.
We were seated right away having made a reservation. We had the onion soup and bone marrow appetizer to start which were very good. Husband had the trout and I had the chicken which were huge portions so expect to take some home. Service was excellent and the noise level was a bit loud mostly because there was a table of eight thirty something guys next to us. The open kitchen was great to watch. Can't wait to try another “Room” restaurant.
My burger was dry and served with 6 cups of French fries no one person could consume. My husband's trout was full of bones. Drinks were subpar. Certainly not worth the money we spent.
We had a great time!! Julio was a wonderful server and the bar tender was phenomenal!! The espresso martini made by “the Irishman” was the best I’ve ever had. Wonderful dinner!

Updated 9-2-25. The worst service I could imagine. If Sean is the waiter I recommend respectfully heading elsewhere. He will focus on upsells with 10x the care of getting you your food and making sure it's accurate. As a regular, it's quite unfortunate that they allow staff that has zero interest in the customer. He is the exception as I have experienced.
He also doctored the receipt to add an additional tip since I tipped less than is customary due to the horrible service. I may try it again if he is no longer employed there.

The food and service were incredible! Muscles, tomahawk steak, lobster mashed potatoes, asparagus and crème brûlée outstanding. Chef Alana and crew crew crushed it! Can't wait to go back.
Our server Sean was amazing!! We both got ribeyes and they did not disappoint. We will be back!
I'm often disappointed by the quality of steaks at "local" steakhouses. They so often disappoint. However, that was far from the case at the Grill Room & Bar. Our steaks were thick, tasty, and cooked to true perfection. The portions were enormous, flavorful, and creative. Service was efficient and friendly. Definitely will return when we come back to Portland.
Don't let them sit you near the door in the winter. Some in our party had to wear our coats throughout dinner because of the draft coming through the window next to the door.
Was there Saturday night, sat at chefs table and it was great. The young waiter was excellent, the steaks were perfect and for a steakhouse the portions are huge .. I highly recommend the oysters, filet and Brussel sprouts ,although the salads looked amazing.
