service and food was fantastic. Thanks to Jess and the staff for helping us pull off a great rainy day adventure. Highlights: broccolini and fried mozzarella apps (two different things), the fennel sausage pizza, and the Margherita pizza. the campanelle pasta dish also got high marks at our table. Will be back.
The service at Tipo is attentive and friendly, contributing to the restaurant's appeal and helping to create a loyal customer base.

The restaurant's focus on quality ingredients and creative dishes makes it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a taste of Italy in Portland.
Ordered a sausage pizza. The pizza when served was not hot but warm. It must have been sitting for awhile before it was served to me. Mentioned it to the bartender and she sent over who I think was the manager on duty. He offered to put it back in the oven after I had already taken a slice. I was here once before a year or so ago. Not nearly as good as the first time.
Dined for the first time based on recs. Very inattentive service. Other tables seated after us had drinks and food before a server even came to our table. Had to ask hostess to find her mid-meal. Seated at 7pm ,food came out at 8 and we didn’t even order appetizers. Ingredients were skimpy. Small portions for Main entrees. Peeky toe crab pasta had maybe two tablespoons of crab on it, not even. Mostly pasta. Similar issue w chorizo entree. We wanted to order dessert but sever was so inattentive. She was clearing tables and not coming to check on us. I had to walk over to the kitchen to even ask for our check. And that took another 15 mins. By 8:35 they were starting to dim the lights and packing up the food in the kitchen. Really wanted to like this cute place w great patio and interior but the food and service were a big miss.
Very cute little place. A favorite for my partner and me. Food is a little pricey but always 100% on point and worth it. Besides. How can you go wrong with prosecco on draft?
Don’t got here if you are physically disabled. They are very ableist and made me feel really uncomfortable. I’m a wheelchair user and I made a reservation for the patio. When I got there the patio was closed because of rain and they told me they had moved my reservation to the bar, which is not accessible to me. They were totally unwilling to try and find me a table. And they didn’t apologize at all. They were pretty rude and uncompromising to be honest. I was really upset when I left and I felt really hurt.
Five diners in our party--aged six to sixty-five--all left stuffed and happy! Fantastic pizza, playful and delicious garlic bread, wonderful pasta, fabulous service. Highly recommend!

Grabbed a few pizzas and dishes with my family the other night and the only complaint anyone had was from my father in law, that it was just a little too dim outside at night to easily read the menu.
We were big fans of of both white pies that we had grabbed, a spinach, and a roasted mushroom(with added prosciutto), and the red pie that we got , a new Yorker (with added black olives and meatballs) was very good as well. The star of the show for me was the baked cavatappi that my father in law ordered for the table, there was a subtle spice to it that I really enjoyed.

Get family vibe at Tipo!
The staff were very friendly and accommodating when we needed 5 chairs vs 4. It’s as if they knew I was coming and forgot to ask for a table of 5.
They have amazing entertainment for the kiddos too. Some fun kid size cups and a doodle pad that is entertaining for parents too.
I highly recommend the Sausage and Fennel pizza with a Negroni or Dark and Stormy

I’d definitely come back for the pizza, but probably not for the pasta. Tipo was lovely, but the ambiance felt a bit too casual for some of the prices they’re charging. It was our first time, and we made a reservation thinking it would be a bit more upscale based on the menu and pricing we saw online. Don’t get me wrong — the place is super cute both inside and outside (the garden seating is adorable), but it felt more like a casual dinner spot. They also pack a lot of tables into the dining room, which gave it a slightly crowded vibe.
We ordered the four-cheese pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, cavatelli, and campanelle pasta. The pizza was fantastic! We added prosciutto, and it was delicious. The pizzas definitely fit the vibe and are a good value. The pastas, however, were a bit underwhelming. The cavatelli, for instance, was over $30 and drowned in sauce, which made it too acidic and hard to taste the other ingredients. The portions are also pretty small for the price. The campanelle was decent but a little bland.
The appetizers were a highlight, though. The peach crostini with stracciatella was amazing, and both the burrata salad and arancini were solid choices, although the burrata portion was a bit skimpy.
Cocktail options were quite limited, and the cheapest bottle of red wine was over $50. The Negroni was good, but it lacked the bitterness of a traditional Negroni.
Overall, if you go to Tipo with the right expectations — knowing it’s pricey for the portions and that it’s more of a casual vibe — you’ll enjoy it. I’d definitely go back for the pizza!

First time in this wonderful gem on a quiet street. Fresh ingredients. I have no complaints. We ordered the garlic bread, Mexican Cola Maine Soda, Quattro Formaggi Pizza, and the Blueberry Lemon Ice Cream for a party of 2. Portions were larger than I expected. Everything was so fresh tasting. It all felt pleasant and delightful rather than heavy and weighed down. The space itself was immaculately clean. All staff were cordial and made us feel welcome while still providing an upscale yet casual feel. The atmosphere was beautiful. Not overbearing with decoration but still personalized, and the lighting was wonderful, not too dark like some restaurants are. The prices I'd say were on the higher mid range for what lower middle class people can afford but worth it for a tasty once in a while treat. You can tell they put care and thoughtfulness into everything they do. We interacted with numerous staff, and everything was well coordinated. I am very impressed with this establishment and look forward to dining there again to hopefully try the lavendar lemonade mocktail. Thank you for everything.

Went on a whim. Had the Thyme after thyme cocktail. Delicate and refreshing! The cauliflower dip is the bomb!!!!! Also had the white spinach pizza and the hubs had margarita with roasted mushrooms. Both were delicious and will definitely return.
Our server was soooooo nice and well informed too.
