We’ve been regulars here for years, and it used to be a fantastic place. Not anymore. Has ownership changed? The host, an older man was rude, condescending and with a dreadful ‘humor’ that was simply embarrassing. The old crew that we’ve known for years seemed to have been replaced, which is strange. Tables were stacked almost on top of each other, and not in a cozy way. Uncomfortable to say the least. I ordered pizza chicken tikka masala, which had mostly tikka masala and almost no chicken, and half of what was there turned out to be cartilage. The one star in this review belongs entirely to our server who was decent. Not coming back.

Had a wonderful family dinner here, young children included. Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the garlic bread which didn't look like much and tasted much better than expected. Just wish it was served warm. The arroncini was crispy and cheesy and my mushroom bruschetta had my grandson, who doesn't like mushrooms, asking for more. The pizzas have a good balance of charred crust. Finished off with the cornbread cake with peach jam.

Tipo is in my top 3 restaurants in Portland. Their pastas are spectacular even compared to what you can get while in Italy. They have a few pastas that don't leave their menu that deserve that treatment such as the rye cavetelli and campenelle. The campenelle is a lighter dish that is perfect. The cavetelli while heavy is spectacular. Whole their pasta is extraudinary their apps, plates, and pizza don't miss either. House salad shouldn't be missed, cauliflower dip we don't ever skip, pizza is also great. Highly recommend the tipo pepperoni. It's special. Beer and whine list is solid. I would say only critique is their cocktail list while being perfectly acceptable is not something I am overly excited by. They have a full bar and their cocktail menu offers a bit of everything just nothing extraudinary.

I went to Tipo last night while in town for work. The restaurant was able to take me without a reservation and the staff was really great. The bartender recommended that I try a side of their homemade ranch with my pizza and it did not disappoint!

We happened upon this place and are so excited we did! Kristen was an amazing server! FRESH food that was delicious! We had the spaghetti and meatballs, margherita pizza, rye cavatelli and garlic focaccia and finished everything! Delightful meal, service and overall vibe! Loved it and highly recommend it!

Very pleased with the wood fire pizzas, Drinks, and mozzarella appetizer. When we were walking in, a staff member was picking herbs from their garden to use in our food and drinks. We did not have a wait (we did have a reservation).

Delicious food and great service! We got the meatballs and the mozzarella arancini to start, both came out pretty quick and were yummy! Our server was very attentive to our needs. We got the new yorker pizza and Rye Cavatelli, both were the perfect size to not have any leftovers. Ive come here a handful of times and it always is a great time.

Salad was increadible...never raved about a salad before and the pizza was the best...really...not droopy, crisp, flavorful and the twist with zucchini parmesan was a thrill....put more of the zucchini on the pizza next time please. Staff was professional and attentive.

This is a cute little Italian Restaurant tucked into the Back Cove neighborhood of Portland. We had a great dinner, but knocked off one star because the service wasn't awesome (but it was fine!). The wine and cocktails were good as was the pizza - for 4 of us we ordered 2 and shared them along with 2 appetizers and a large salad. We skipped desert. It's an interesting menu with lots of options and I would go back if in Portland again.

While the actual restaurant was a little nicer than expected, I have to agree with the recent reviews that this place was underwhelming. Both of my children got the spaghetti and meatball dish that was a staggering $25. I was hopeful they would have a decent size portion but alas it was not. It took a long time for the waitress to come over to us but the hostess was very nice. Overall would not go back.

A good place for eating and relaxing. Pretty loud at times, but it's a good crowd atmosphere. The food was good as was the service.
