We had Sabrina as our server and she was amazing! She had great menu knowledge and helpful suggestions—she was also incredibly warm and personable. I was there for my birthday and not only did my dessert have a lot candle but I was given a birthday card as well. I will definitely be coming back.
I had the Tripoline ‘carbonara’ and Dirty Chai Tiramisu. To drink, I enjoyed an Aperol spritz. Everything was great.

One of the best places you can eat in Portland. The food, the service, the presentation, everything is the way it should be.

Such a beautiful place for an intimate dinner, the service was amazing. The espresso martini was perfect, the focaccia bread was so soft. But what I’ll never forget is the bolognese, as someone who gets bolognese at almost every restaurant, this is def top 3 for me

Stopped in just for drinks and Patrick behind the bar was fantastic! Let us taste the “hot and dirty” cocktail before we ordered it and chatted with us about various liquors. We felt very taken care of. Great cozy atmosphere. Would recommend!
Bar in the front, restaurant to the back…. Nicely laid out space with a surprisingly good ‘Hot and Dirty’ from the bar! The Radiatori had a great sauce and noodle combo, mussels should have been served with more bread but overall service with a smile won over the night.

Had a reservation for 8:15 on rainy Monday night and this place was still packed, and for good reason! The food and service were excellent. The octopus was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and both the main dishes (chicken Marsala and lumache) were piping hot and full of flavor. Would absolutely return!

My wife and I were vacationing in Portland for our Baby Moon. We booked a reservation at ViA VECCHiA last minute since we thought it looked really nice and since it was the only available time we could get (5:45 PM).
At the end of our dinner, my wife and I kept reflecting on how we totally lucked out getting a reservation at ViA VECCHiA. It is such an elegant and classy restaurant that feels luxurious. The meatballs and mushroom insalata are excellent starters. My wife got the chicken marsala and I got the radiatori and both dishes were absolutely fantastic. Our waiter (CT) was also very attentive, knowledgeable, and a great conversationalist.
I highly recommend ViA VECCHiA. The restaurant's aesthetic and food are second to none.

Fantastic spot, went here for date night and they were able to seat us even without a reservation, food was amazing and the holiday drinks were fun and on point. Definitely worth stopping by and the prices were reasonable for the level you are getting right in the heart of old port. Atmosphere was great as well with an old money classic feel to it! Would definitely recommend getting the meatballs and the chicken Marsala!

Short version: Our meal was excellent. Our server was patient, polite, professional, and very knowledgeable. The beverages were good, but I'd recommend the wine over their cocktails.
Longer version: When we arrived we were guided to our party's table on the mezzanine level. The lighting was very soft, and the music was subtle, making for an intimate, socially-focused atmosphere.
The server was able to answer most of our many questions off the cuff, and got answers to anything she wasn't certain of. Service was attentive, but not smothering, with a visit every 15-30 minutes to check in with us, take additional orders for drinks or.dishes, and so on. She paid close attention to dietary restrictions and was quick to make polite suggestions.
The food itself was excellent. Everyone loved their entrees and the apperitivo was truly fantastic. I think the whipped ricotta was the table favorite for starters. The cocktails were a little hit-or-miss, but the wine and pairing suggestions were excellent.
If you're looking for an exquisite night out in Portland, ViA VECHiA is up there with the likes of Front Street and Duck Fat.

Beautifully decorated and classy and sophisticated. Food was delicious. I was a little disappointed that I made a reservation over a month in advance and was seated in the corner at the bar versus a table, even though almost every table was open, but maybe you just have to specify in your reservation request. The hostess was very friendly and offered local recommendations as we were leaving for places to grab additional drinks or dessert.

The ambiance is nice, it's a good bar with good service. The food however is county fair level slop. Anyone who calls this good Italian food probably things Maria's is good as well. Last night the fried artichoke special was literally canned artichoke breaded and fried. The Tripoline was plated upside down - with the soggy sprouts and lardons (which had no taste, how is it even possible to serve tasteless lardons?) in the bottom of the bowl with a sticky pile of pasta slapped on top. The short rib was dry. Buy a crock pot for your line cook it will do a better job. This is our third and final time eating at this place. Once a year we get lured in by the ambiance but one bite in we are reminded of not only how bad it is - but how bad the food scene is in Portland that this place is still in business.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. We’ve been here maybe a half dozen times in the last few years and it’s always our go-to for special occasions when we go downtown! They take reservations which is great, the food is phenomenal, and the service is divine. Plus that environment— just love it all! We came for dinner before the Nutcracker show and it was wonderful. The Christmas decorations are always such a beautiful sight. The photos don’t do it justice but I’ll share some!

Honestly, I’m not sure what we loved more. The food was truly spectacular. Every pasta is homemade and it tastes that way. Such fresh ingredients and attention to detail. We loved each dish we had. The space is also so beautiful, especially decorated for the holiday season. But the hi-light of our visit was our server Ashley. She was so funny, so attentive, and so knowledgeable about the food/drinks/wine. She was such a delight. We will absolutely be returning to Via Vecchia!!
