What an incredible meal! So fresh and well-prepared. Gabby was our server and was beyond knowledgeable, attentive and personable! She and the wonderful bar staff helped us select the most delicious sake!! Thanks Gabby and everyone!

Awesome sushi and good service. This is our favorite go to sushi restaurant. We haven't been disappointed yet.
Incredible food, very polite and attentive staff, and very kind and grateful owner who thanked my friends and I for coming in.
I've had sushi all over Japan and this is at least tied for the best sushi I've ever had. Everything was absolutely incredible. Had the Omakase, shrimp tempura, uni with quail egg, sayori, and monkfish liver. This is my new favorite restaurant. I'm typing this in my parking spot outside the restaurant. Just wow, thank you so much.

Such a fun experience sitting traditionally, had the best soup I’ve ever had— would come back immediately next time I’m in town!

There’s a reason yosaku is always packed. For a casual sushi restaurant it doesn’t get much better than this. The fish is fresh and delicious and the tempura is light and warm. The coziness and consistency of the menu make it a great place for weeknight dinners or weekend hangout with friends. Back when I had free time, me and a buddy would come here like twice a month and we never had a bad meal.
Pro tip: If the place seems too busy, get a seat at the bar! Clifford the bartender is really excellent and turned us on to the Hamachi Kama and agedashi tofu.

Perfect spot. Sushi was amazing, vibe was immaculate, everyone was very friendly in a natural way. And honestly for good sushi it wasn't expensive. Pretty much all you can ask for, amazing.

Awesome culinary Japanese experience. We ordered gyozas, bonito seared, edamame, pork katsu don, beef udon noodles, and a bottle of hakutsuru junmain sake… just beautiful. Besides a Japanese water pond, so natural and authentic, totally worth to visit.

We had fantastic nigiri and rolls. The tempura was great as well - came very very close to the amazing tempura we had in Japan.
The atmosphere is very nice, tatami mat options with backed chairs, seating at the bar or western tables.
The tuna sampler was incredible! Such fresh fish and so delicate and smooth.
Sake sampler was also delicious.

Very very good Japanese food. Was sort of shocked finding this quality of Japanese food in Maine. Attentive staff and comfortable atmosphere.

Visited Yosaku recently on a business trip and had an ok experience, the atmosphere is nice and quiet, the food was ok and lacked a little flavor, and the waiter was a little rude and short with us, probably won’t go back

Yosaku is a Portland staple for fresh, authentic Japanese cuisine that strikes the perfect balance between traditional and inviting. The menu offers something for everyone, but sushi lovers will feel right at home with beautifully prepared rolls, sashimi that melts in your mouth, and quality you can taste in every bite. They also offer a budget-friendly lunch menu, making it an excellent choice for a midday sushi fix without breaking the bank. The outdoor garden seating adds a serene touch, making it one of the best spots in the city to enjoy sushi on a sunny day. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, ideal for both casual dinners and date nights. Service is consistently attentive without being overbearing, and the kitchen’s attention to detail shows in everything from presentation to flavor. Whether you’re stopping by for a light lunch, a sake-filled evening, or just craving top-notch sushi, Yosaku delivers every time.

If you are a sushi lover, do yourself a favor and stop by here. The fish is extremely fresh, the rolls are packed with fish, and it is at a great price! I loved the lunch special and sitting outside was a treat.
Will be returning!
