Came across In Good Company by chance on the Friday afternoon between Christmas 2023 and New Year. Menu looked good as did the building - other than that my wife and I had no expectations. Walked in at 4pm and got a reservation (a cancellation?) for 6:30. Arrived and were seated at our table. We were blown away by the service, the exquisite food (with plenty of gluten free options), the ambiance and the fact that it was not noisy. We would come regularly but for the fact that it is 3 1/2 hours drive from home. If you’re in Rockland ME, don’t miss this place.

I’m so impressed with this place! The chef made magic happen for every dish she produced in that small kitchen. I absolutely loved the quality and composition of the recipes. All the protein was sourced locally and even the whipping cream was whipped by hand. Highly recommend ?

If you go to mid coast Maine, you have to have dinner at In Good Company! And you have to make a reservation ahead of time to do that. The chef Melody is the best chef ever. Although I am not a huge fish eater, i love the way Melody cooks fish—it honestly melts in your mouth. The beef tenderloin is exquisite. The pate is such a treat. Well I could go on and on. And everyone is very friendly and welcoming. And the atmosphere is cozy.

Service was terrible. Food was good but under seasoned. I was there with my girlfriend and we were the youngest people in the restaurant. We are both currently head chefs and have many years of experience in the front and back of house. We know how an establishment is supposed to treat their customers. Treating people different because of their age or how they look is appalling. We were given dirty pint glasses for water, literally everybody else in the restaurant had clear highball glasses. We were told they were out of chowder, working in a restaurant we completely understand that running out of items happens daily. 30 minutes later the table adjacent to us orders the chowder and our server(Nicolas) says “awesome, you just took my last one!” We were told that we have to place our entire order in the beginning so the kitchen can keeps its pace. A little odd for a somewhat casual restaurant but we said okay and put our order in. Seemed even more odd when we waited half an hour for our appetizers and 45 minutes after that we finally got our entrees. We asked to see the dessert menu. Nicolas came back and I said “we will take the…” he cut me off and said “pass okay” then got our check. We were hoping to order something else but oh well. If you want an equal tip, give us equal service. Other than that the meal was alright, the tenderloin/shrimp/scallops were all cooked perfectly however they all lacked seasoning. All of the dishes seemed overpriced for how simple they were. Also I was afraid that I was underdressed until I saw our server in jeans and t-shirt with skate shoes and a rag tucked in his pocket.

We enjoyed our meal here. Tasty foods and nice eclectic touch. We didn’t have a reservation so we had to sit at the bar. Overall good and we would return when back in town again.

A touch slow to get cooked food but worth the wait. Sword fish small but excellently cooked sauce delightful. A little too noisy for me, table cloths might help that.

This spot was great for date night for us! It was hustly, bustly and social as we were there on a Saturday night, but that is exactly what we like! Their drinks are great, house Malbec is delicious! We had the charcuterie board which was very good, steak for dinner, also excellent, and panna cotta for dessert! Service was great; they gave us a little side table to order drinks at since we had to wait a few minutes for our table, which was nice! Highly recommend for a date or with friends!
