Great food! Great service! Owner is a vindictive POS! won't recommend business to him or go there ever! The schoolhouse bakery next door is wonderful!

It is the only game in town. That said the food was great. The table service and the bartender the evening before our lunch was very sociable and we looked forward to lunch today. My real enjoyment of a bar is a good Guinness. Having traveled around the world enjoying good beer I have become a bit of a snob. My understanding comes from the many owners of Irish Pubs and my own experience. Many times I have been treated to a wonderful pint. Many times I have been disappointed due to a bartender not knowing just how to prepare the drink properly. A good pour means full flavor and no bitterness. When I ordered mine here I specifically asked for a slow pour. Watching the bartender pour mine he poured it like a Bud Light. I refused the serve. Apologized to our server and leave a good tip. Once we left we were chased by the bartender who explained that he had been tested by Guinness and told he was doing it correctly. I disagreed. He insisted he was correct. Leaving I was struck by his total lack of good customer service.

We ate here once for dinner and once for lunch. It’s a casual, friendly place frequented by locals as well as by tourists. We were able to eat outside the first night. Indoor seating was more appropriate next day due to rain. We were tempted by the German menu but eventually ordered from the American menu. We both had the prime rib special on Friday night. It was a nice change from seafood. The next day my clam chowder and house salad were just right for lunch in between activities. Service was good both times and the prices were very reasonable.

Great food. German food or seafood; both are great. Went by for a take out dinner after a day on Monhegan Island. Just a mile and a half from our cabin. Building doesn't look like much but it was busy. That tells you it is good! Friendly and great staff. Great haddock.

got the Lobster Club, it was good EXCEPT the piece of toasted bread in the center was BURNT black, I think the cook tried to hide it...i took it out and the rest was tasty. Husband had the "famous Haddock chowder" hard pressed to find haddock but he said it was a good potato soup. The bakery next door had delish blueberry turnovers!

It's always our "go to" place when in Maine. We've been here for Lunch and Dinner. We discovered a few years back and fell in love with the place. The food is so good, both the seafood and the German faire. A great location away from the touristy parts. We can't wait to go back again this August, 2023. Those who are meant to be here, come here.

German cuisine and seafood in the same restaurant? Yes, indeed. The whole belly clam chowder is excellent and the "regular" clam chowder is quite good. Some like the lobster reuben and the lobster roll is quite good. Good burgers and fries but we haven't been happy with the chicken. The German dishes are reliable and worth trying. It is a casual place and they allow dogs on the deck outside. On Sunday afternoons it is very crowded "outback" with live music and not enough places to park.

Huge menu and everything is delicious! We had both the German food from the menu as well as the American; everything was yummy. They also have a great German beer (light or dark).

Not our 1st time to this gem of little place. Food is amazing. We always leave 35% tip to help the service team. For the 1st time in my life, I left NO tip...A waitress name Shannon was horrible to us, but we stay because of the food. She made us feel so unwelcome. Never experienced such a disgraceful attitude before. We tried to be overly nice with plenty of smiles and thank you, not to avail. My next visit to the happy Clam, yes we will go back, I will make sure not to be served by this person again.

We stopped for lunch and while some of the menu items were missing (the fish chowdah) , we had a great meal including steamers and haddock sandwiches
