We ordered the mussels and the New England clam chowder. The mussels were amazing and delicious. The sauce and the bread go together really nicely. I liked the clam chowder but it was bit too salty for me. I added some black pepper to it and it definitely helped. Overall the service, food, and atmosphere were great!

This is a true gem. This is backyard event on steroids. This place had a playground, bonfire, live music and great food. Went for my father’s birthday and it was most fun we all had in a while. He grew up with this grandparent that came to America from Germany. He said this is made him feel at home. I would go every weekend if I could.
This place is outstanding! On Sunday’s they have live music 2-5 I think, and a fire to sit by. The staff is amazing, the food was great, and the atmosphere on point. If you’re in the area, this place is a must!

A German restaurant and biergarten that serves great seafood at good prices. This was the first steamed lobster I ordered in Maine this season, and I didn't feel at all bad about the price. It, along with the sides, was excellent! They're finishing up the new biergarten and bar behind the original restaurant - looks like a great place to spend an evening with live music.

Fun, kitchy, German vibe. Food is homemade & delish with an emphasis on German, though plenty of basic American & seafood dishes, too. Their team is GREAT! Good energy, ready to have fun with what they are doing! That goes a long way! And summer Sundays at the Outback are just the best!! It is a 5 for the kind of place it is. ENJOY it! ??

Always a treat and truly a gem off the beaten path. German food in midcoast Maine. Amazing beer selection wicked cool atmosphere. I go atleast twice a season!
Kid-friendliness: They have a play area outside for the little ones.
Very rude owner, refused to let us move due to direct sun in our faces despite other available outdoor tables. Said he’d take $400 if we wanted to move. Thought he was kidding but no, just rude and hostile. If this is his place than we are his customers who won’t ever come back much less recommend it. It isn’t a lot to ask for respect and politeness. We weren’t annoying or rude to him in any way. Forget going there.

Instead of eating in the restaurant, we ate "Outback". The atmosphere was fun, but the food exceeded expectations. Both the lobster and steak were perfectly cooked and very reasonably priced. The only negative was the limited gluten free options although they do have a dedicated fryer for their fries and they were very accommodating.
