WOW! Just the most delicious knish I've ever had! Was quite filling because it was loaded and every bite I had a piece of meat. Thousand island dressing was perfect with it. The owner and female worker were so nice. They were preparing for Passover orders, but still made time to great every customer. Family photos on the counter were a beautiful touch! Highly recommend!

My only regret is not trying more of the menu! Beautiful bundles of filled knishes with a variety of sauces to accompany. Warmed up and ready to eat, thought I could eat on the go but I stayed right in my parking spot and devoured my everything knish. I cannot wait to try the loaf of babka later. Such kind service and quick. I enjoyed reading and looking at the family photos while I waited. This place is one of a kind and I WILL be back and I'm already raving to everyone I know about this place. Thank you!!

Incredibly charming and delicious, also they have “smoked salmonaise” so I am now subletting one of their three seats.

Behold this absolutely amazing sandwich: the classic BenReuben, with pastrami. I had mine on marble rye (you can also choose sourdough or pumpernickel). If pastrami isn't your jam there's corned beef or turkey, fried chicken or spicy chicken, whitefish, or smoked lamb (which must be popular, as they were out of it on my visit). All piled up with fresh, fresh sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing--and yes, that's a lacy halo of melted Swiss cheese around the edge, which is so good it should be an appetizer of its own! Also: the Matzo ball soup! The broth has that rich, yummy chicken fat taste and was absolutely perfect on a wintry day. I picked up a festive rainbow sprinkled spritz cookie to banish the blues, too. There's much more in this sweet little shop: several kinds of knishes; a deli case with sides like roasted beets, harissa cauliflower, and potato salad; and baked goods, including rugelach and gorgeous-looking challah bread. I'm delighted that another Yelper recommended this place to me! It's in the cute strip of little shops on Ocean Street in the Knightville part of South Portland, and I highly recommend it when you need a satisfying sandwich fix.

This is now one of my favorite places in South Portland. It has a very homey feel to it. You can find public parking nearby. Ask the folks about the stained glass for a cool story. Very nice and informative staff. Very accommodating, too!I've never had a knish before going to this establishment - and they are absolutely delicious. So far, I've liked or loved everything I've had. Their zesty pickles are STRONG. You've been warned. They let us try it for free before buying one which was very nice! I love their signature Ben Reuben knish the most. The meat is very tender and moist. The bread isn't soggy from the moist filling. They give you a choice of which sauce you would like to go with your knish. They also have sandwiches which are very good - their Reuben is probably one of the best I've ever had. It felt like I was back in NYC around Houston street. Definitely stop by or order online from them if you can.

I don't want to tell you how good it is, because I want it all for myself. I had a knish and a sandwich(corned beef).

Very friendly service. Delicious and fresh knishes. I liked that they offered so many vegetarian options. Worth a visit!

Graham and his staff went far above and beyond for our family. On not even 48 hours notice, they produced a Shiva meal that was phenomenal and brought both comfort and delight. And that’s not including the rave reviews for the food! Brisket that melted in your mouth, terrific chicken for the non-beef eaters, sides that were the epitome of comfort food, and amazing knishes. Part of the above and beyond was doing a sloppy joe knish, which had been a family favorite of much of the family as children. This was a meal that everyone enjoyed, that brought us closer together over fond memories, and brought comfort after a sudden and traumatic loss. There are no words, or certainly not enough of them, for Graham’s kindness and generosity. Not to mention his staff, who helped deliver this incredible meal on such short order. I cannot recommend BenReubens Knishery more highly. Thanks and gratitude are not enough for all you all did at such a challenging time.

We have been wanting to try this place ever since we read about its opening a couple of years ago.We love knishes and so respect that the tradition is being kept alive as many of the places to get knishes in NYC have closed and there are so few places to get in CT (at least nearby where I live). We ordered 1 heated potato, cream cheese and scallion knish. Outstanding! All knishes come with a dipping sauce of choice but we did not even use one and just gobbled it up. The in house made smoked beef dog was packed full of flavor and the mustard on it was fantastic. We washed all down with a Dr.Brown's diet cherry. What a treat. We later ate the Ben Reuben knish, which was really good. The zucchini knish was o.k., but instead of chunks I would have preferred either smaller cuts or shredded. There are sandwiches, salads, pickles, and sweets too.Ben the owner was so friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning on our next visit to ME and would recommend a stop in. No restroom, on street parking.
