the portions are tiny and the food had no flavor!!!!
The food was absolutely amazing the staff was great would highly recommend this restaurant! Bathrooms are very clean also :)
The best Chinese food in Greater Portland by far. And awesome staff that has been here forever. Always welcoming. Family owned. We’ve been coming here for more than 30 years. Please support this independent locally owned family business.
The sesame chicken I had was very dry (I have never in my life seen white meat sesame chicken) and the fried rice was bitter and mushy and just inedible, which is a word I do not use lightly. When I asked for that dish to be refunded, I was told that I had to bring the food back to them that same day, and tomorrow would be too late, because if they let me bring it back tomorrow I might "get food from another restaurant"?? This was not a good experience at all.
I ate Chinese food all the time, cause my job makes me travel a lot, and Chinese food is quick and cheap, but this place, let me tell you.The have a wall full of awards, and they deserve it, cause the food is awesome, what a good food what a good place.Saturday Dec, 25 2021
Very disappointed with Imperial China Chinese Restaurant. Food was OK only reason rated 2 stars. The service was terrible from being seated, waited on and leaving the restaurant. The waiter and another employee were talking in a foreign language across the room to each other while the waiter was standing next to our table. This happened throughout our meal. The menu stated we will meet dietary needs of customers, wife is allergic to sugar, unable to make sauce without using sugar. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT.
Best Hot and Sour Soup in Maine
They're very cheap on their food pu-pu plater for two only get two pieces of each meat I had three of us wasn't happy about the food and they're staring at us all the time.don't go here if you have more than 3 people.I give no stars.
Horrible service, wouldn’t feed that food to my pet. When confronted about how horrible it is they say nothing is wrong and tried to charge for food that made whole family sick. Then charged almost 20 dollars for just our drinks. If you want to save your stomach from eternal hurting DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT give them any money or your time.
This place has been a favorite of my family for many years. It's not very fancy, located in a corner of a strip mall. Some of the booths are showing their age, but the place is clean. Small restaurant, rarely very crowded. The food is EXCELLENT. I've tried lots of dishes and have never been disappointed. Staff moves quickly and service is efficient. I've never had to wait very long - even now when the whole word is short staffed. If you want a flashy place this isnt it. But if quality Chinese is what you seek - look no more.

The food was great. My family and I didn’t appreciate the fact that I was stared at the whole time I sat and tried to eat my food. We also were not given silverware until late after our appetizers. Mostly my concern is how uncomfortable me daughter was by finding an employee starting at me and judging me because I am a tattooed female. Don’t run a business that doesn’t welcome all walks of life. Good day.
You know when you get good Chinese food, and 4 days later you heat it up in the oven, ya, that's what it's like
Today I picked up takeout from the Imperial Chinese Restaurant andthe food fell short of the Restaurant's name. The shrimp was over cooked, the Pork in the pork lo mien was virtually absent and, the peas and carrots in the lobster sauce tasted as if they came from a can. The Wonton soup and the crispy noodles were the exception as they were very good.I called to advise them of my concern and they stated that the food is not meant to be re-heated, I responded that if that is the case they need to mention that to every customer that orders take out or takes a doggie bag home.
I always eat in. It's been great every time I come. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Seating is quick. I first came here in 2012 while I was in college. 9 years later the quality of food and service has not changed. I moved out of the area, so this stop here today was a great treat.Thank you!
This place is a time capsule of your favorite Chinese restaurant from the 80’s, and I mean that in the best way possible! Classic menu items prepared well and with lots of flavor, not pretentious Asian fusion stuff served on big fancy plates. Strong and overly-sweet cocktails served in tiki mugs with paper umbrellas and plastic swords, instead of fancy craft mixology concoctions (DO try the flaming Volcano punch for two served *on fire* with 18” straws). Paper menus, mirrored walls, giant Chinese wall carvings, and a big aquarium up front. The service was great, and the staff was nice. This place brought me right back to my childhood. Let’s see Olive Garden and other big chain restaurants in the area with 45 minute waits do that! Don’t change a thing Imperial China, you’re an authentic vintage treasure!
