My husband and I regularly pass the White Wolf when headed to Sugarloaf for a full day of biking. We finally stopped in to see if the wolf burger was as good as my husband remembered when he hiked the Appalachian Trail 10 years ago. The decor was circa 1960s roadside inn. The food and service at this unique stop did not disappoint. The expansive whiteboard was filled with specials and is updated regularly as the chef offers a variety homemade appetizers, meals, and desserts. Each one made with wild picked or homegrown ingredients. The duck empanadas and fried fiddleheads sounded interesting and were great appetizers. I got the roasted pork with criminalized apples and cranberries and it tasted like thanksgiving. The veggies it came with were wild-picked, creatively prepared, and so tasty. The fries were hand cut and the burger roll was home baked. It didn’t take much convincing to try the raspberry dessert which of course was from her own raspberry patch. The gentlemen who severed us was lovely and we look forward to coming back to see them again.

This is like a restaurant operated by a bunch of Moms - the food is amazing and they really take care of you. I went with the prime rib, which was melt in your mouth good, with a side of asparagus and some roasted potatoes. We also went with a fiddler fern appetizer - we didn’t even get a photo of that one, as it was amazing.

The food was excellent. I ordered the fish with lobster and what i got was very unexpected but excellent. Fish and lobster with a kinda cookie crumble side. Nice and hot (steaming !) The service was great and very friendly.

I have passed by here a few times, finally made the stop and happy that I did. Inside it is as I expected, comfortable and homey. The waitress was friendly and prompt with taking our orders. We ordered the special Maple Bacon BLT and a Turkey Club. Both came quickly, were fresh and very good. Almost ordered the special blueberry pie, as the couple beside ordered one and it looked great. Unfortunately it was the last piece. Overall it was a good place to stop.

The food is always great, and even with today's issues with finding people to work, the service is great. Sandi does the cooking, waitressing, busing, you name it and still has a moment or two for friendly conversation. Stop here for lunch every chance we get!

Horrible! I don't understand how people said the food was great! Frozen fish fry and frozen shrimp! Typical bar food. We went at 4:30 pm. They gave us a booth. Then without asking took the dinner menus off and gave us lunch menus! The wait staff was busy ditching the other patrons and the owner! Ridiculous! NEVER will we go there again! Also...$50.00 for lunch? Really???

Although we did not eat in we thought that the food quality was quite high and the price reasonable. We wish we had been aware of the enormous number of specials before ordering but were able to add a special dessert with our order.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. We sat ourselves in a booth and was greeted by a cat.We waited for a waitress but none came only the cat.A very friendly cat but not a waitress. The cat proceeded to nuzzle up to my wife from the back of the booth bench.Still no waitress. When the cat jumped onto the table, that was it for me.We never saw a waitress or for that matter anyone other than the two people sitting at the bar.We may try again sometime but it will be awhile. We sat there for twenty minutes no waitress, hostess, cook, bartender,or owner acknowledged my wife or me.

No, this restaurant was not open in 1775, but it is located on the historic Arnold Trail, the route that Benedict Arnold and the American forces traveled to Quebec during the Revolutionary War. The White Wolf Inn is an eatery situated in the small village of Stratton, and it never disappoints. My wife and I have frequented The White Wolf on a number of weekends this summer and fall. Owner/chef Sandy Islip operates a top-notch restaurant that includes a sampling of traditional comfort food, mouth-watering sandwiches, and daily specials. The burgers at the White Wolf are legendary and are accompanied by freshly cut homemade fries. In addition, it is not uncommon to be able to order a fish taco or lobster roll in this mountain retreat. Sandy and her sidekick "Zee" do it all and are extremely friendly on top of it all. Depending upon the time of year, the White Wolf caters to Appalachian Trail hikers, ATV riders, and snowmobile operators. In addition, her homemade desserts add a delightful punctuation mark to any meal. I would highly encourage you to stop by and check out the eclectic decorations while waiting for a meal that you will have you wanting to come back for more.
