The food was amazing. The menu is small, so we ordered one of everything for a party of four. The salad was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The arrancini and foccacia appetizers were melt-in-your mouth delectable. The house made fresh pasta dishes of sausage rigatoni, beef ragu, and mushroom ravioli were savory, rich, and mouth-watering delicious. Topped off our feast with a sweet caramel flan. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. Only open two nights a week and seating is limited, so plan ahead. It's worth it.

This is a wonderful restaurant! The food is excellent, the service is friendly and great; and the atmosphere is warm and relaxing. The menu changes often so there is always something new. The pasta dishes are a particular stand out but you could choose
anything and be very happy in our experience. A really charming place! We try to go every week. Their arancini demonstrated why it is such a popular dish in Italy and if Zeppole is on the menu for desert, go for it! If you look at a review older that July 2025 it is not for the Crooked Spoon but for a previous restaurant at the same location. As of 11/17/2025 it is open for dinner Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Meal was absolutely divine. Endive salad had an excellent bite, potato leek soup was cozy and paired great with the focaccia, and then the pastas… the spaghetti with bolognese was like a tasty classic bolognese with some kick, and then the butternut squash ravioli tasted like candy. Everything complimented each other so well. Chloe and Madison were wonderful. Can’t wait to return!

Since June of 2025, the restaurant has been under new management by Crooked Spoon Co. and is open Fridays and Mondays from 5pm to 10pm. The food menu is pasta-focused with Italian and Mediterranean dishes mixed in. There is a full bar with a nice mix of wine options. Reservations are strongly suggested. Find more info via @crookedspoonco on Facebook or Instagram.

This is a restaurant saying it's a saloon. It offers a small menu of interesting and excellent food. My gf and I each had a tomato burrata salad. She had the lumache, a tomato shell pasta, and I had the spaghetti with beef. She had orange wine and I had French 75 drinks. We enjoyed it all. This is a great hole-in-the-wall joint. Reservations are made with a Google AI, believe it or not.

This was a fantastic, and romantic date for me and my significant other on Valentine's Day. The menu was small but delicious. Very small place with a bar and tables. Lighting gives a romantic feel and the music isn't your typical feel but still was enjoyable. We ordered the lasagna and the filet mignon. They were amazing and so flavorful and tasted very healthy and organic. We also got the flourless torte cake I believe it was and trust me get it! It was delicious. Overall very happy with this experience
I heard that one of the original chefs had returned to take over the kitchen, so I figured I’d make the hour long trek because this place used to be one of my favorites. As expected, I was not disappointed. I loved the eclectic menu and the locally sourced goods. It feels good to know your food came from the farm down the road, especially in a time when farmers need our support! As someone with dietary restrictions, I was thrilled to have multiple options to choose from, which is impressive given that the menu is small. The limited menu allows space for impeccable attention to detail, and lets the chef’s creativity shine and the flavors burst. The burrata was to die for, and the dressed oysters were a game changer as someone who has always been on the fence about oysters. One thing I love about this place is that many of the dishes feel on par with a high end restaurant without the expectations of having to dress the part. Be it a date, or a good bite to eat after a long days work, this place is approachable, and shouldn’t be overlooked.
Dietary restrictions: There were several gluten free options to choose from. The menu changes regularly so it may vary, but I believe they post it on social media and since each dish is prepared from scratch you can make informed decisions!

We were sadly disappointed with our meal. The weekly menu offered only 4 “small plates” and 3 “large plates”. The selections looked quite interesting, so we ordered 3 of the small and 1 large. They did not skimp on portion size, so that's good. But across the board, seasonings were heavy-handed, making dishes barely edible. Way too much salt in everything. Too much garlic in hummus, too much dressing on the salad, too much confit on the burrata (which featured lots of pomegranate seeds instead of the promised strawberries), too much hot sauce and oil floating on the soup. Not only did this affect flavor, but it made dishes less visually appealing - kind of sloppy looking. The service was fine and the drinks were very good.
We had a great dinner Saturday, the dressed oysters were amazing 🤤
The Block is a jewel on the MidCoast, nestled in historic Thomaston. Featuring fantastic food from a select menu. We had the Mother's Day brunch starring chef “Wiley” who delivered mouth watering brisket hash and French suzette toast. Boom! Owner Marty personally handled the front of the house, making us feel like family.

Love the food, great service nice vibe. A tad loud and the menu is maybe not for everyone, but you can't beat the freshies. The chairs ae uncomfortable for long stretches - no lumbar support.
First time there but certainly will be it be the last. Friendly, efficient service and delicious food in a warm, comfortable setting.
The Block never disappoints! The staff are super friendly and accommodating and the food is outstanding. A great addition to Main St Thomaston!
Great place.
