Our first visit to Thomaston Cafe was for breakfast. Because we enjoyed it so much, we returned for dinner. The cafe still looks the same, and the servers were as friendly as ever, but.... Sadly, our breakfast of a few years ago far surpassed the adequate but unremarkable dinner. Maybe if we'd ordered the burgers? The place was packed with regulars - friends greeting one another and talking between tables - and most everyone had ordered the burger special of the night. If you're looking for spot with an interesting menu , you'll be happier elsewhere. If you just want a casual, comfortable spot with a homey, everyday menu then Thomaston Cafe fits the bill.
Super great BLT and burger! Food took forever to get to our table however. Wait staff, super sweet, but over stretched. Didn't bring an item or two, just too overwhelmed, I guess.

Heading home after a stay in Bar Harbor, we were enjoying the Maine scenery along Route 1, and needed a dining option before we jumped on the interstates. Heading through Thomaston, I caught sight of the Cafe out of the corner of my eye and we pulled in.
The Cafe is one of those places you wish you had in your hometown: Interesting menu; well thought out wine and beer list; warm and welcoming atmosphere; friendly and engaging staff.
I had the fried haddock sandwich and a nice lager from Baxter Brewing and my lovely travelling companion had the caprese burger. Both delicious accompanied by equally tasty fries. I wish we lived nearby since this is the type of place I'd love to work though the menu.
Worth the stop if you're nearby.

We like to go out for breakfast after Sunday church We found this quaint cafe and were impressed with both the help and the food We shared a delicious omelet and had plate sized blueberry pancakes that were superb The only negative is that the following Sunday we returned to find them closed due to staffing issues, we were saddened We actually found reduced hours at allot of establishments in the area, they either have closed permanently or have reduced hours That said we would still recommend this cafe, you will be paying for good food and service
Excellent food and great service. The pricing is very reasonable and the atmosphere is great. I can only complain about one thing....our table was tippy. That's it , despite the tippy table we will go back!
