Just came up with my mother from Boston for lunch. As usual, the food was outstanding. We had the clam chowder, lobster stew, fish & chips and bread pudding. The real surprise was the service. Our server was Tiffany and she was by far the best waitress we have ever had, anywhere, hands down. The whole experience was a 10/10.

We went to Billy's Chowder House with my family on a Wednesday for the oysters on the half shell for $1 each. You could not beat the deal. Plus the clam chowder was excellent. Our waitress Stephanie kept us entertained during the meal. It is definitely worth a trip.

We had the buck a shuck oysters. They were delicious but the shucking was a little rough. They had sand and shell pieces in the oyster and weren't cut from the muscle, so we had to cut them before we could eat them. Kind of disappointing.

Recently visited Maine for my wife's grandfather's 90th birthday. This was my second time visiting and I never enjoyed lobster during my first visit. So right off the plane I started searching online for a good whole lobster restaurant and found Billy's Chowder House in Wells. I think I hit the jackpot! The service was great and it was a nice, clean place. Reasonable prices too. The food was outstanding! I got a whole baked, stuffed lobster, along with a bowl of chowder. Unbelievably delicious. I'm 59 years old and this was my first whole lobster ever. The overall experience was fantastic. We couldn't be happier with our choice to come here and highly recommend Billy's for anyone looking for a great dining experience.

A must visit if you are in Wells. Service was great. I visited once for lunch and once for dinner. The beer battered fish and chips were delicious. I had the lobster dinner the following night and it was perfect. Beautiful view of the marsh. Very cute atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We swore we'd never go back after an undrinkable bloody mary 5 years ago. We went back today because it's close to our vacation place. Great atmosphere, good service, friendly but overworked bar staff AND THE CHOWDER WAS MEDIOCRE! It's a freaking chowder house. The chowder was thin, a matter of taste, I had to leave 2 pieces of clam on the plate because I couldn't chew them, and the broth was weak. 2 glasses of wine, 2 Jim Beams and a bowl of mediocre chowder, $70.00??? I guess we're done with Billy's

What a gem for a couple of tourists seeking chowder! Walked right in, seated in minutes, and served promptly. We enjoyed clam chowder, a lobster stuffed baked potato, and lobster cakes. Completing the meal with a fabulous Blueberry Shortbread sundae!
Service and beers was ok but the fish and chips was not good.

Our server, Katie, was so cute! Bubbly, friendly, & lots of fun! Bet she’ll be famous someday. Thanks, Katie! We came to try the lobster bites as seen on FB page. We almost always play the guess the amount of oysters and shrimp served. (Even won once.) Now, we can guess the amount of lobster bites served. They were tasty as were the stuffed mushrooms. I had the seafood sampler and was surprised there were four fairly large scallops. Excellent meal. My bf had the baked stuffed haddock cooked perfectly. It was also delicious. Katie, you’re a superstar! Hope your manager sees this and acknowledges your hard work. :) Keep up that effervescence and you’ll go far in life. 💕
