Horrible hostess I ordered a 8 oz sirloin medium they gave it as a rare to medium rare sirloin I sent it back and asked for medium well it came back WITH A CHARCOAL COVERED OUTSIDE and tasted horrible my father ordered the maple pork chop special and it came back undercooked with over cooked rice the bathroom smelled like piss (all bathrooms do but this one you could only smell the piss the only good part was our waitress who was an older lady with blonde hair bless her heart but every other part of dinner was horrible the gas station food we got after was much better please stay away
When you’re on vacation, you don’t go to the same chain restaurants you have back home, you look for local spots, and we found a good one. Up from NJ and sightseeing along the coast, we looked for a local spot that seemed to have something good before calling it a night. We weren’t disappointed. It was busy and took about 10 minutes to get seated. Our waitress brought us our food in a timely manner and it was delicious. The restaurant is quaint and really fit in for the area.

Mixed bag. Prices vary wildly. A $36 personal crock of Lobster Mac-n-Cheese to a $16 single small portion pork chop. Lobster Mac and My Blackened Prime Rib were highlights. Asian salad with canned pineapple (not fresh) along with small fried Chicken Bits was underwhelming. Small boneless pork chop was thin and dry. Applesauce in the side helped.
Expected more from food but service was biggest issue. Our server seemed distracted and a bit ‘ditzy’. Several times she walked off in the midst of taking our order.
Every business deserves a second chance, but this was our first visit and will likely be our last, as this has only been our 3rd trip to Maine. Lots is options so why return to give a place than under performed a second chance .

Did a two night stay in Maine to see the fall foliage and to eat lots of lobster. We stumbled on this jem of a place in Wells. The service is outstanding, folks were really laid back and nice. The $22 lobster rolls were are go to starter on the menu. Home style fare very reasonably priced.

Food was pretty underwhelming, but the salad bar was nice with a lot of options. Definitely wouldn’t go back for the food or the atmosphere. Our server, Therese, was great though!

Stopped by Bull & Claw in Wells, Maine during our coastal trip and had an unforgettable experience. We ordered their monster “Lobster Lover’s Lust” two‑foot lobster roll (yes, two feet!), along with cocktails and side dishes. The lobster was super fresh, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed but polished. The menu also includes great options like maple pork chops, seafood platters, and a well‑stocked salad/soup bar. If you’re visiting Wells, or just love bold seafood meals, this spot is a must. I’ll be returning.

The worst service and food ever!!!! Went on a bus trip to this location Asked if they could substitute the soup because of food allergies was told no! I could buy something else Prime rib was over cooked Asked for Aujus was told no the bus group don't get it The lobster apparently wasn't better! The waitress said that we were not customers even though we were paying customers! If you asked for extra rolls They said no but you can pay 50 cents fotlr each additional but they never came back The service and attitude of the server was so bad I would never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Our waitress and the food saved e experience from being bad. We arrive just after 5:30 on Friday Oct. 10 there was nobody at the hostess desk there was a sign reading wait to be seated about 10 feet away at the entrance to the dining room. The wait staff was busy tending to their seated guests. A good line of waiting customers gathered behind us, after close to a 15 minute wait an older woman comes walking past us in a huff and goes to the desk. A couple behind us told her my wife and I were first, when we got to the desk she loudly exclaimed "I was busy watching the salad bar we are under staffed and that the line starts at the desk." My wife said politely " we thought it was at the sign " She snapped back loudly " Be patient. " as if we were in the wrong. She was very rude and lacked any customer service. Thank goodness for the rest of the staff or the evening would have been a disaster.
Stopped in for dinner because I wanted a salad and soap bar, there were lots of choices at the salad bar as well as 3 kinds of hot soap, It was very understaffed which meant a very long wait to get our order to be taken, the waitress was definitely running around far to much as 1 employees only hob seemed to be to pick up dirty dishes, menu is a little odd as in if you order a burger, the fries cost extra, menu and restaurant could use a real tightening up for sure. There was a HIRING sign on the wall so they may just be spread to thin. Doesn't seem to bother anyone as there were lots of customers and even a bus load showed up. I would go back for a different meal at some point. All in all an ok place with a nice homey atmosphere.

Hello,
The service was horrible and the server was beyond rude. The good tastes horrible and the desert wasn’t even better at all. For my first time being at this restaurant I thought my experience would’ve been a lot different, but instead it was horrible.

We arrived at the Bull and Claw with a group of nine on a weekday, off season evening. The person who greeted us said we needed a reservation because we had too many people. They were not busy and over half the tables were empty. In retrospect we should have left and gone elsewhere but the "host" grudgingly and rudely said she would make an exception to the rule, which none of us were aware of. Some of the meals were OK but four out of nine came out of the kitchen late. Three came out 15 minutes after the others and the fourth meal was another 10 minutes. The last meal was not prepared per the menu (Pork Chop with applesauce). The waitress did not mention that they had run out of applesauce at the time it was ordered or when she delivered the meal 25 minutes late. The pork chop delivered with this meal did not resemble a pork chop in appearance or taste. It had a texture like it had been boiled or steamed. It tasted like it looked. A side of applesauce would have helped neutralize the taste of this "meat" and made chewing and swallowing it a little easier. There were a few other things I could complain about but in general we were not happy with the experience. We are all extended family and live locally . We gather for a monthly dinner with between 8 and 15 people. We like to support locally owned establishments, especially in the off season. The Bull and Claw will not be added to the rotation.
