The food was okay - not wonderful, not awful, just indifferent. No effort to make the plate look inviting and yes, it's a diner, but if a plate looks attractive, it shows that the person who made it cares. I ordered the shrimp roll lunch. The deep-fried shrimp came on a grilled hot dog bun, period. No leaf of lettuce to perk up the plate, no sprinkling of parsley to give the same effect - maybe they relied on the pickle spear for that. Shrimp were okay - nothing spectacular. I had to ask for cocktail sauce because they supplied tartar instead - not a big deal, just another example of lack of focus. The fries were okay....I tried the pickle - not a fan. This visit was on a December weekday, and the restaurant was nearly empty - not like they were rushed. Prices are up everywhere these days, theirs, more than most for the quality and how it is presented. It will be a long while before we try it again- there are many alternatives.

This is always a stop on my way into Maine and in the way híñeme. Service and atmosphere are a well run diner. Food is fantastic. Even if you don’t particularly love seafood chowder, get the seafood chowder, it is amazing! Good diner food otherwise. Next trip I have to try the lobster pie.

At 60 years old, I have never been treated so badly at a restaurant! The young woman waitress yelled at my wife for asking for the chowder she ordered telling her she had other customers after she forgot to deliver her chowder with our meals and my wife though she would be eating with the rest of us. Ill never go back. BTW. When she did get the chowder it was NOT worth the wait.

I haven’t been here in about 18 yrs.when we use to go the parking lot would be full and a line out the door! Not today barely any cars and no line. Hmm. We got sat quickly & ordered. Our bill was a whopping $131.00 for crap food( no seafood). Food was gross. The best part was my coffee and a root beer float. And the waitress (Amy) was ok, yeah just ok! My daughter and grandson had explosive diarrhea & don’t feel good ( they both had hamburger). They both had said it didn’t taste right. Our waitress didn’t check on us till she brought us the bill. By then we were disgusted and ready to go. I don’t recommend anyone going to the Maine diner unless you want to get food poisoning! Definitely has gone downhill & probably could use a visit from health department!

We always love going here! The food is very good and service is fast. I can’t quite remember the name of our waitress…Mari-Lee? She was awesome. We love this place so much that on our vacation here this year we went there for lunch twice.

Service and atmosphere was exactly what we anticipated--our server was great, pointed out the favorites on the menu, kept the coffee coming and checked constantly. The food on the other hand was not so good--the bacon was cold as was the sausage--the blueberry pancakes appeared to be made with frozen blueberries instead of fresh--Yet--we will give it another try--there's a reason they do 1400 meals on a given day during the summer, so maybe we just ordered the wrong items,

My breakfast order was all wrong and had to be sent back twice.
Worst than that, 15 minutes after leaving the restaurant I had explosive diarrhea!!!
Health department should visit and do a food safety inspection!!
I'll personally call them.

The main diner is an icon on route one in Wells Maine. I have been going there for at least 40 years and it is great all the time.

So excited to eat here!!! Food was delicious. Real maple syrup costs extra but is worth it. Tables are close together so a bit crowded. Service was very good!
