This review is regarding the management treatment of us with our service dogs. We have 2 small (cockapoo) legally registered service dogs. We informed the hostess ahead of time so that she could seat us accordingly. Instead she sat us in a highly trafficked area which we later learned so that the manager could watch us looking for any "issues". Our dogs behaved perfectly and we had them sit away from the outside of the table. We give them "treats" for good behavior. Well, the manager came right over and started harassing us and told us HIS rules: They had to remain laying down the entire time and we could NOT give them any "treats". Not one peep or we will be asked to leave. He stood by the hostess stand and stared at us almost the entire meal. Our dogs were not misbehaving nor were they out of our control at any time. He was so intimidating it was appalling. In tears I told the amazing waitress to tell him that I hope he never experiences cancer and that these 2 dogs are the only way I can get out of bed some mornings. This was my first time out to a restaurant in over 3 years. My husband later went back inside to talk to the manager himself. He as much as shrugged it off. Oh well. Not even an apology. FYI from the ADA website: "The only acceptable occurrence that can lead to asking an individual with a disability to remove his/her service animal from the premises are: - The dog begins to misbehave - The owner fails to control the situation Such instances include the service dog barking repeatedly. Another acceptable call for removal is acceptable is when the service dog poses a direct threat to the safety of other patrons. " And so my recovery will continue...

Had a delicious meal tonight. Second time we have been there and we were not disappointed. Our server was great. Started with french onion soup which was warm and tasty. I had the surf and turf. Steak and twin baked lobster tails, asparagus and house potato. The filet mignon was melt in your mouth tender. My husband had the ribeye. He said it was by far the best that he's ever had. Thank you again for a wonderful meal.

I Had the “Chef Special” Bone in sirloin steak for $49.99 I have never had such a horrible steak. I should have sent it back as soon as I had to use all my muscle just to cut through it. The waitress asked if I wanted to send it back, I said no, I thought maybe it would get better as I got closer to the bone. It did not get better. After speaking to the manager at checkout, I was told that I ate more than 60% of the steak which I didn’t. I was told I had to pay my full bill. My wife also got a steak pie that was also terrible. The vegetables in it were all raw. Totally over rated. We have wanted to go there for 16 years and never were able to make it without a 2 hour wait. Not worth the wait or the money! HORRIBLE!!!

Had the Seafood Pie, the majority of the pie was made up of tiny shrimp and very little, if any at all, other types of seafood.I realize it's a steak restaurant, but they shouldn't offer a menu item like Seafood Pie if they're unable to include various types of seafood as advertised....

The service is the only reason they get a star. Chicken scampi; chicken was dry, pasta bland. Not good. The ribs; definitely tasted like Sweet Baby Ray's, also dry. The ambience is loud & dated. Overall, I would not recommend this place.

UPDATE: 02/17/2024 went again and this time we ate in the bar. Everything and I do mean everything was fantastic. My wife and I had the special Wagyu Ribeye with stuffed lobster tail. Head to this restaurant just as soon as you can its fantastic.... that's blue cheese butter on the ribeye... chefs

You will almost be guaranteed to wait, but it is well worth it! There is a great bar area to wait in while a table is being prepared as well as a patio with a few games. If you are willing to eat at the downstairs bar, the wait is usually not long at all. The bartender Molly (who has been there every time we visited) always has a bright smile and keeps you toped up! Highly recommend The Steak House!

I've been told about this place for years and we finally decided to go. Well worth the wait. The service was wonderful and the food was perfect comfort food. Great flavor and my meat was cooked perfectly! Great family spot to enjoy in Maine.
