I adore this place. I almost always get the Alfredo sauce tri color tortellini with grilled chicken and I've never been disappointed. as someone who considers texture to be make or break, the chicken is always cooked to perfection. I've been coming reliably for a while and I am planning on keeping that routine :)

I don’t ever write reviews but this horrible experience had to be shared. What should have been a simple request of “I would prefer to have a gluten free bun” turned into we won’t serve you the bun or fries and you have to pick something else. Even after explaining that it wasn’t an allergy and it was just a preference. Instead of enjoying a meal with friends and family we had to beg the staff to tell the “chef” to make us the food we asked for. In the end we had to pretend to order the food we wanted from someone else at the table. I’ve never been to a restaurant where I had to try to trick anyone to serve me food. This was an odd and very annoying encounter.
In response to the review… the entire evening we told two different staff that it was NOT AN ALLERGY. Don’t possibly know how we could’ve made it more clear.

I think we have found our new favorite dinner spot! I am not a huge “foodie” and am never very impressed by any food here in Maine. I’m not picky just not blown away often. Calzolaio has really blown me away with every single item I’ve tried so far. The experience is absolutely amazing dining in. Very welcoming to children which is great since we have a baby and young toddler. We can’t wait to make this our weekly outing spot!

I have a son with some different abilities and he and his girlfriend (similar different abilities) wanted to have their first date in public - alone. So myself (his mom) and her mom went early in the day to make a reservation and talk with them about the help they may need during the date. Ashley met us at the door and was AMAZING with helping us decide what would be best for them. They set up a special table ready for their wheelchairs and with the table decorations we brought in to surprise them. When we got there with the kids for their date, Hannah jumped in as the server and along with Ashley they made their date PERFECT! They were kind and patient and made them feel so special! I can not thank you enough for taking on the challenge and showing such kindness towards them. You made a public first date something we will all remember.
BONUS: we (the parents and brother) ate on the upper level so they couldn’t see us nor us see them. Our meal and service was so good! Same two staff - Ashley and Hannah!
