The staff were great but it took an unusually long time for someone to even ask us for drinks. The place could be updated. The food wasn't anything to brag about, especially for the price. Don't order the potato wedges. Tasted like something from a public school cafeteria. The scallops where great and the view of the river was nice. Shrimp just didn't taste good. I wouldn't recommend eating here.
Had a friend from Texas come visit us here in Maine. Didn't want to drive to the coast so we went local to this place. He had the ultimate lobster roll and loved it. I had the small fried clams. Great place to check out.
Stopped by while on a road trip and found the Red Barn isn't open on Mondays. Clean and attractive if rather plain interior, with a deck that must be fantastic in warm months. Friendly, attentive service. The fisherman's platters were large and delicious, but I would probably stick with fried foods. I say this because the chowder had a very peculiar vinegary flavor to it, and no one who really understands chowder would put acidics in it. I also couldn't fathom why...
