Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant!!!! Been coming here for many many years! ♥️
Hidden gem. One of those places that has been around for a while and looks the part. There's no need for a remodel when the food is this good.
The buffet food was dry and cold. My beverage was too strong to drink. The atmosphere was nice but not nice enough to recommend or go back.
The worst dried, less that ok Chinese food I have ever eaten. Waste of time and money.
Took over an hour for our food and the lo mein was gross and chicken tasted not cooked enough for the price you pay. It was soggy
We stopped by after visiting the Botanical gardens. This was a great choice. Service friendly, food quick, hot and tasty.
I’m not one to complain about local businesses. But this one really got me. We ordered at the Taste of Orient in wiscasset tonight, ( regular customers) big family so you can imagine what we spend there. Got home and was missing some of our food. Called them right up “ hey we’re missing such and such” and he’s like oh ok can you come get it I’ll replace it. I was like yea we’ll be back out after I eat. I get there and there like “ Karen” I’m like no and the lady next to me was no. Then the worker goes to kitchen and starts talking her talk then comes out. She’s like “Lisa” I’m like yes… her you go WTF!!! It was their mistake but I’m the Karen Can’t share a picture but the bag had “ Karen” written on it
Took a chance ordering here despite the negative reviews, since I was curious to know their Philippines cuisine on the menu… and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the pancit tagalog which is basically a thin rice noodle dish with meat and vegetables stir fry, and it was authentic and delicious. I also tried the lumpia shanghai, which is a Filipino eggroll, filled with ground meat and veggies and wrapped in a thin egg crepe… this was incredible. The Filipino cuisine was authentic…. But the general tso chicken wasn’t that great. Friendly service and quite fast for take out. I can’t wait to go back!

I heard mixed reviews about the Taste of Orient and I’m not sure why. This place was absolutely amazing.
When we first walked in, we were met by a very friendly and sweet waiter who went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. If she didn’t know the answer to a question about the food, she happily went and found the answer. She often checked in to make sure we were doing good and was very attentive.
The food was superbe too. Whether the sauce was sweet and sour or duck sauce, it was very flavorful and you could taste subtle notes of pineapple, apples, etc. The tofu was also some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant; it was crispy and well made.
All in all, would recommend visiting here.

I've heard mixed reviews of the Taste Of Orient, so I can only speak of my experiences. The atmosphere is nice, comforting, and quiet, very much the classic American Chinese Restaurant atmosphere. They sometimes have a buffet, but I haven't been there when they had it open. I have had amazing service every time I've been there, very kind and welcoming staff. For this visit I had the Filipino Egg Rolls, Peking Duck, and hot tea. I love the Filipino Egg Rolls, they aren't as heavy feeling as traditional Chinese Egg Rolls that most of us are used to, they are crispy and flavourful. The Peking Duck has a beautiful flavourful spiced sauce, and is tender and moist (there are bones so be aware of that when you bite into a piece). The vegetables help to bring a nice balance to the dish.I have been told that the owners are Filipino, which is why you will find traditional Filipino dishes on the menu,as well as all of your favourite classic Chinese American comfort foods. If your looking for something other than American Food or Pizza while in Wiscasset check out Taste Of Orient.
Vegetarian options: As with most Asian restaurants, vegetarian options are easy to find, and ask if you are unsure.

The person who took our order over the phone wanted us to look at the online menu rather than answer some of our questions. Beef was chewy, there wasn’t enough beef for the enormous amount of broccoli, the broccoli was well sized and looked nice and fresh, chicken was dry, breading was mushy inside and had canned pineapple and maraschino cherries on top making the outside soggy too, very small amount of chicken encased in tons of breading. We only received one small container of rice for our two entrees. We paid almost $50 after delivery and tip, and we both couldn’t finish our food and were still hungry.

I always enjoy their food. It was a take out order. Done when they said it would be. Got home, and everything was just right. I will go back again.
