My family and I have been LONG time customers of this place, until today. My mother knows the owner very well and I know Teresa and Sherri well. I really didn’t want to make such a review because of the reasons mentioned above, but since there are NO visible signs on their restaurant windows, on their menu, anywhere inside of this place for that matter, nor did our waitresses verbally notify us of this “new change” BEFORE taking our order - I want others to be aware — As usual, my husband, my children ages 12, 10 and 6 and I decided to dine in today. The food was okay as always. The first year we came here, the food was great. We only returned a few times in hopes that they would hire new cooks. The waitresses are usually attentive, but ours was not today. Now, getting back to my original point — it wasn’t until we received our bill that we realized that they included gratuity at a 15% MINIMUM on our $50 bill. When I asked the waitress and the owner what that was about, I was told that this is “new” and that they now automatically include a MINIMUM 15% gratuity charge on the bill of any “party” of 6 or more in their FAMILY diner, and that they have no way of taking it off. That being said, the gratuity amount alone came out to be almost $9. Now their bill has yet another new look with the previous one being a “non-cash charge”. And because we weren’t aware of this place including gratuity into peoples bills automatically without ANY visible signs, verbal mentioning, etc, this is was really a shocker! ANYTIME we’ve gone to this restaurant wether it be dining in or ordering take out, we have ALWAYS tipped our waitresses! ALWAYS! And they know this because they know us!! Most people don’t ever tip on take-out, but we sure do! Secondly, my biggest issue is that if we would have been made aware of this “new” change, we would have brought enough money to cover the damn bill! Instead, we were short because we were planning on paying our phone bill afterwards! I mean.. again.. no signs on their restaurant, no signs on their menu, the waitress never mentioned a word about their “new” change, not a word. Third, I think that a 15% minimum being tacked onto someone’s bill without their knowledge or consent is really outrageous. They do not have tiers like other places do. It’s just one flat 15% minimum gratuity charge. Like I had told the owner, I tip my waitresses and I tip my own way. But because “others have bailed out on his waitresses and their tips are all they get” we’re being punished plus I did half our waitresses job as it already was today. She didn’t come back to ask us if everything was okay, I had to run empty dishes up to the counter to make space on our table, I had to ask for boxes and a bag, had to ask for refills. And, I’m sorry but these waitresses chose to work in a restaurant. Waitressing in a family diner isn’t a career — it is more for high school and college kids! This is truly a shame when inflation is already killing us as it is, this restaurant has recently had to up the prices on their menu, and now this?! People can’t eat out or do anything anymore! And I’m sorry, but a party of 6 would of been more understandable, if this wasn’t 1. A bar and 2. Half of the party weren’t children. I mean, it’s truly sad that a small family is being taken for granted and taken for more money. The owner offered to pay the gratuity because I wasn’t aware of this new change and in his own words “because I know you know Sherri and all of them”, but needless to say, I still tipped my waitress to prove my damn point. No, it might of not been what they wanted out of me, but at least it’s something!! As a FAMILY of 6 along with my mother and father, we will no longer be dining here. We will be dining at the New Baltimore Dimitri’s with better prices and more food for our buck.- New charge of 3.5% if you use your debit or credit card- New automatic 15% minimum gratuity charge for a “party” of 6 people or more.Please ask questions before ordering and look at your bills!As for the restaurant, way to serve your community!

Ordered a carry out. Grilled chicken pita. The chicken was horrible. Not grilled, chewy, terrible. My last time from going to this place. My husbands chicken strips were undercooked and looked like frozen strips. Tried to give it a chance again. No more threw our food in the garbage. Only reason not returned was because they closed!Do not recommend.

So this happens every time. Ask for well done hash browns, they were raw and still hard in the center, and just barely brown on the outside top. Sent them back and specifically made sure to get them WELL DONE, they came back exactly the same, so I said I don't want them, over half done with my omelet by this time, I said take them off my bill then, he deducted .95cents, and I had not one bite of hash browns. This has happened almost everytime I eat here, this owner is a joke!!!! I will NEVER go back there, way to many chances givin, and never no solutions. Save ur money people, it's just not worth it, and his prices are out of this world!! A 2 star restaurant with 5 star prices!!! Never again!!

I have never had anything other than an excellent meal here with excellent service. Breakfast or lunch, reliably tasty & generous! Just had their patty melt: perfection! Even their fries are better than elsewhere. No one makes a special request corn-beef hash “crispy” like Flaming Grill. The grits portions are huge—as most everything. So much, it’s like getting a 2nd meal to go! Great variety from Greek to Mexican to All American & more. Interior is always immaculate & attractive. Lots of comfy Booths! Such pleasant wait staff…& whoever is working the kitchen sure does it well!!!Parking: Never an issue
