Stopped in as I wanted a little treat. I liked that this place orders ice cream made by local companies. I was greeted when I walked in, but unfortunately after that the staff was more interested in speaking with each other. I had to initiate my questions and for samples. It wasn't busy when I visited so there is no excuse. I am a retail operations manager, I teach my staff that the guests come first and the focus is assisting them when they walk through the door. There's always down time, have your conversation when guests are not present.

My first visit to Downtown Scoops Ice Cream Shoppe was an absolute delight! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially since it was my first time. They gave me a fantastic recommendation: the Amaretto Cherry Moose Tracks ice cream in a homemade waffle cone. The flavor was a perfect choice and the cone was delicious.
I had a wonderful experience thanks to their great suggestion and amazing service.

Scoops is always a must visit spot in Alpena with our family! We have been coming for years and our boys consider this “our spot” in town. It is located on a corner in the lovely downtown Alpena district. There’s indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy. Don’t let a line deter you- it moves quickly!
