“Maplewood is an incredible secret that has live music, amazing owners, staff and delicious drinks. You will be hard pressed to find a better place that consistently puts out the caliber of musicians that Maplewood Tavern does. They are fourth generation owners and have been in business for 100 years!”

“Best pizza! Worst Salads! The salads are made up mostly of the ribs of lettuce. I'm guessing they use the good part of the lettuce for their grinders and such, and use the scrap ribs for salad. I've tried their salads numerous times thinking each time that I just happen to get a bad one the last time, but it never gets better. I'll order pizza, but no more salads.”

Order at bar...don't think it is a waitress type place, but that is fine...

We did have some chips with a local salsa which was a good snack. Food truck there was doing a lot of pizza and it looked good.

The owners are wonderful, the service is always super friendly, and we’ve never had an issue. It’s one of those places you can count on for a great meal and a warm welcome. Highly recommend.”

“Took my family of 7 here for dinner today . Didn’t know what to expect . It was awesome ! Definitely has a cool Up North vibe and comes with great Northern Michigan hospitality and friendliness. Even on a Saturday evening the food service was quick and our waitress was very attentive and patient with our young kids . I had the 5 piece fish dinner … it was sooooo much food and taste amazing . Everyone in the family loved the atmosphere and the food . I think we found our new favorite place to eat in Alpena . Will definitely be coming back .”

“Overall the food is good and the staff is friendly. I’ve been going there for years and have had only small issues, like a few times sides were missing. The subs are always accurate and they wait is short. If you squeezed me for some constructive criticism, I’d probably recommend they dust the ceiling.”

“The people/crew here are always incredibly sweet, even if the owner isn’t as customer-service-oriented! 😸♥ My crew at my food service job used to get Starbucks every Sunday and order 2-to-9 drinks every time with no complaints from staff. They always got them correct (or at least with very few mistakes, the most that would be missing would be someone’s extra caramel crunch on top)!! I have genuinely never had a bad experience with one of the employees. They all smile when I come in and even if it’s busy I always hear, “have a good day!” and reply. I am inherently an anxious person, but they’ve never made me feel unwelcome or unwanted. One time when they were closing early to have someone come in for maintenance, they were still incredibly patient with my friend and I who were catching up after a long time apart. What finally made me write this review was today was that one of the kind employees remembered me from back in April when I said I was getting an espresso machine for my birthday! There is always a wholesome interaction when I go, but I didn’t expect it to be above and beyond!! I will be editing this to add names to shout-out specific employees once I learn them, but for now: shout-out Gloria! Everyone here is fabulous!!! Thank you always!”

“Had an excellent late lunch here on 6/19. Was greeted by the hostess and sat immediately, food was great, but the waitress was amazing. One of the nicest and sweetest people I have met and also, extremely efficient and perfect customer service. The receipt showed her name as Renia S and i sincerely hope she is recognized for being such a bright light to people.”

“Love the food nd the service is always great. You have a bell to ring inside to say the food nd service was good. How about some kind of bell outside by the drive thru so people can ring that? I've suggested it at other Arby's downstate Michigan and they thought it was a good idea. I go thru the drive thru more than I go in nd would ring the bell every time! 😃”
