Whenever we would come up to Alpena to visit my parents, JJ’s was always a mandatory place to get dinner at least once while in town. My favorite being their BLT pizza and French Tip sandwich. We just brought some friends up with us and said we needed to eat at JJ’s while here. I order my French Dip sandwich. It was the worst I have ever had. It wasn’t even on a crusty roll this time, it came on what looked and had the texture like a larger bread stick. The special sauce for the Benson burger now came in a little individual squeeze packet that you applied yourself, and the corn beef sandwich had about half the meat that it used to have. Very disappointed after talking the place up to our visiting friends. Don’t know if they have new owners or something, but it was no where close to the JJ’s that I was used to going to for the last 20 years. Thank god there was still a bar inside. That’s why it got 3 stars.

A great spot in Alpena. They were very busy when I arrived for dinner. I got the last table. A good sign. Everyone was very friendly and service was excellent. I had the pizza. It didn't disappoint.

Ordered a club hoagie was served a club sandwich. The waitress argued with me and said “ I wrote sandwich because you said sandwich.” I said excuse me no I didn’t I literally pointed at the Club Hoagie asking for no ham, and if I ordered a sandwich wouldn’t you have asked what kind of bread? She said I can give you a discount and keep that. I said no I want what I ordered. She said well sorry and literally walked away with the plate. She only came back because she had to serve the table across from us and said so you do you want a salad or something. Everyone at our table was now done and the 6 & 4 year old were restless. I said no all I wanted was what I ordered 45 minutes ago. She had the audacity to keep arguing saying I’m
Not gonna argue with you. If you want the hoagie it will be 15-20 minutes. She then very snotty gave me her name and said I’ll get you a manager. I got the bartender who said Alexis is new and kids just don’t have work ethic. In the end…here’s your bill hope you will consider coming back again and hopefully you won’t get Alexis.

Called in a pizza order was told 25 minutes. Drove 20 minutes after waiting to leave my house. Got there and still waited 40 minutes.
First and last time.

Our server, Lynn was excellent. The food was excellent. Portions and price were excellent. The only reason I’m giving them four stars instead of five is that the hostess was not so wonderful. Her tone and interaction style was a bit abrasive and more suited for a prison cafeteria.

We sat ourselves and were greeted fairly quickly and got our drinks. Our order was taken within 5 minutes of sitting down. Nearly 45 minutes later our breakfast came out, chicken was so dry it was like dust, spinach was actually burnt, the inside of my omelette was very greasy. Hash browns were undercooked and rubbery. My husband’s corned beef hash was burnt, eggs over done and rubbery. Toast was done perfectly. It was obvious our waitress was avoiding acknowledging our wait was so long. I was embarrassed for her but disappointed she never attempted to reassure us our food was on its way. It was not busy with maybe half of the tables full.

I was expecting much more. My friends' Ribeye was mostly fat, and my pizza was overcooked. The waitress was nearing the end of her shift and, boy did it show with the way she rushed us out.
