The BEST Mexican food in Ann Arbor

This place is the restaurant I HAVE to visit when I'm back in Ann Arbor. My first Yelp review in 2016 or whatever was reviewing them and their amazing tacos. It's nearly a decade later, and the tacos are still something I cherish when Im able to visit. Picture unrelated, but for attention

Chela's offers a fun environment with a solid menu. The tacos are great and they have some great and unique options. My personal favorites are the chorizo tacos, horchata and tres leches cake, but it's the only place I've ever seen have strawberry tamales. The salsa is also super fresh!

Would eat here everyday. This place is fire <3

I generally like the food here but today it lacked flavor due to the store being stingy with the sauces. The cashier had given us enough sauces but the guy who i think was the manger came and took them out and gave us 1-2 teaspoon amounts of sauces for all this food that was also meant to go to 2 different people. BLAND FOOD.

I did not like the corn tortillas with the fish tacos

Great for eat in or takeout! Super quick service for such tasty and fresh food. Our favorites are the tacos— the birria special, and the chipotle chicken, carnitas, potato, and rajas. Also great vegetarian and kids menu options. Nice patio!

Vegetarian options: Many flavorful and filling vegetarian options.

Kid-friendliness: High chairs and lots of seating options. Great value for very tasty kids meals!

On Friday and Saturday, they have birria tacos. Got those and they were wonderful. Also enjoyed sitting out on the porch, though no one else seemed to be out there but us. We did take showers we promise!

I ordered their daily special which gives you option to try both tamale and taco. I love tamale, I'd say it's on spicier side. Taco was classic with corn tortilla. They give you self-serve hot sauce options which was great. I'd also recommend upgrading daily special menu by $0.5 to enjoy Mexican soda.

Don't need to give my opinion on this place the freshest Mexican in town!!! Love the workers and have nothing bad I could ever say been here over 50 times! Just never fails!

I absolutely demolished the tamales I ordered both the tamales and the chorizo dip I ordered were delicious! The staff was super friendly and my take away food was ready super quickly!
