I have very bad lungs and I was thrown into a coughing fit so bad both times I went to the bathroom that it made my chest and throat hurt and made it hard for me to enjoy my food. To add, the next day I was violently sick throwing up. I will never come bacj again.”

Our servers – Jenn on night one and Ella on night two – were so friendly, knowledgeable and everyone went above and beyond to ensure our experience at Echelon was something we would never forget (and we won’t!). We even got visits from the kitchen with Chef Joe VanWagner coming by to greet us, expediter and professional forager Marc Jacob Qualls-Sanchez coming by for a long session on his foraging expertise (amazing!), and even their new tiki bar (coming soon!) manager Max giving us the DL on that space and renovations. We felt like royalty! For a special treat above and beyond the food, service, and overall experience, the Echelon team passed around menus that night to have all the front and back of house staff autograph it for us! I've eaten there for my birthday celebration meal, and at other times, in the five or six years since. It's rare to find great food, great service, and at a great price in the post-Covid era. In my experience Everest is the best of these combined categories in the Ann Arbor to Dearborn corridor along I-94. No where else that I've eaten since moving back to the area in 2011 comes close.”

“Sam Hill on Jackson Road in Ann Arbor is a really fun spot with a lot of character.
The menu was extensive, the food was pretty good, and the restaurant itself has a really neat look and feel. The outdoor space is fantastic, with live music, cornhole, games, and plenty of room to hang out. It feels like the kind of place that works just as well for dinner as it does for meeting friends, bringing family, or enjoying a summer evening outside.
They also have some interesting indoor spaces and rooms that seem like they would be great for events or private gatherings.
My only complaint is that nobody could tell me why the horse has seven legs. I still need answers on that.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back. A very fun atmosphere, and a unique venue on the west side of Ann Arbor.”

She put the items on the table and left without saying a single word to us. I usually expect them to say follow me or tell me who will be our server. She didn’t say a word. Seemed mad. Today I'm down in the westside of Ann Arbor and this new restaurant Ricewood BBQ, OH MY GOD!!! On the recommendation of the lady behind the counter I got the Brisket bowl with sesame cucumbers, pickled onions and the spice was medium. A "real", in my opinion BBQ place, you even smell the smoke from the wood smoker walking up. I went to the one on North Maple and by far the best lunch I've had all summer!!!”

“El Mestizo: 5/6/26 amazing pupusas and tamales! Very fluffy masa and flavorful beans and cheese. I have gone twice in one weekend and have mentioned it to several people. I am excited to try more items. The pupusas are so crispy and fresh and I love that they have black bean filling. Kind owners and clean restaurant with enough tables for a lunch crowd.
Tmaz: Haven't had a bad item yet. Love the al pastor, carnitas tacos. Great gorditas, chicken flautas and pork tamales. We eat here or grab takeout for friends and family a few times a week since it's fast, always fresh, and the quality is apparent. Love being able to mix and match items for lunch/dinner plates and the rice is delicious! No fat or gristle that you can find at some other places in the meat- I'm picky and thankful!”

“A friend recommended this restaurant to me and it sounded like a fun time, after a week we went there. The inside is clean, modern and simple. You have to wait to be seated, once we sat down we were given water right away which is a wonderful way to show good service early. I ordered the spicy pork, fried rice with chicken and hot sake. Before we got our meal, we were given all different types of sauces and appetizers. Like coleslaw, broiled and seasoned broccoli, some kind of spicy fish which I really enjoyed and a very spicy sauce that looked brownish and another sauce that was bright red & black and was also a bit spicy. After making conversation and enjoying the appetizers, 10 to 15 minutes, the spicy pork was brought out on this grilling plate, sizzling and looked very appetizing and tasty. For me and my friend this was the first experience we at Seoul Garden and I was blown away, I love the service more then anything and all of the service staff deserve raises. - Jacob Anderson, thanks for the wonderful meal SG! Fried old bay chickpeas - quantity was a large and pleasant surprise, though each individual bean was a little small. Flavor and crunch were nice, never tried putting old bay on my chickpeas before, but definitely too much salt on these, which was a pity. Still a good drinking accompaniment though, and surprisingly addictive.
Prosciutto - orange cantaloupe and blackberries were pleasant alongside prosciutto wrapped around the melon slices, and balsamic glaze went very well. I think the honey tilted the dish a little too sweet though, the fruit was sweet enough. Some nuts or a bit of citrus might have been good instead.
Jupiter and Mars cocktail - a little disappointed by this one, was expecting a more spice forward drink, but the spice was more of an aside to the tequila and sweetness.”

We stood out of the way where someone helped me dry her pants & replaced her water. The staff cleaned the mess then moped/dried the floor within ~3 min. It was AMAZING. Thank you!!”

“We visited Mani for the first time with our group of 6 friends. The restaurant is cute and the different levels and layout was nice. Very cool to see the open kitchen. The tables were very small and cramped. We were at a table for 6 but with 6 adults we barely had room to move our arms comfortably due to how short the table was and how close to the wall. We visited around 8 pm so it was very busy but even being that busy, our cocktails took an exceptionally long time to come out. We got the calamari and the focaccia to share. The calamari was good and the focaccia with the honey butter and chili oil was honestly the best bread any of us have ever had. The combination of the bread and the butter and honey and chili oil was unexpected but absolutely fantastic and delicious. I got the Cacio e Pepe which was very good. I tried my friend’s shrimp scampi pasta and it was fantastic. The pizza was also very good. I got the isalita margarita and the espresso cocktail which were both delicious. Our sever was good as well overall. The only other complaint is that for the 6 of us all of our meals came out separately. I have never been to a restaurant where they don’t hold the food until it’s all ready to come out. There was almost 10 minutes between the first person who got food and the last of us who did. Luckily the phenomenal food and drinks will bring us back but hoping next time the service is a little more organized and we can get a table for 6 in the middle and not crammed against the wall.”

I was torn between two options and my amazing server, Payton was able to put in half orders of each so I could get a little bit of both and not break the bank. Super shout out to Payton by the way, she was a rockstar server! Everything was on time, piping hot and delicious. She even brought my friend a Tide pen when she dribbled her burger onto her shirt!
There were many wonderful little touches like when my friend asked for a beer sample. The bar guy brought THREE…the one she asked for and two similar choices so she could make a decision. We were floored at not only how delicious everything tasted but by how the staff really seemed to love what they were doing.
I ordered the poutine and the friend chicken and mashed potatoes. Chicken was perfectly seasoned and those mashed potatoes were excellent! The poutine was fantastic as well.”

I have some friends that went to the University of Michigan. Arthur Miller, an author who wrote Death of a Salesman also attended the University of Michigan and also my teacher, Mr. Ivan Hicks and also Mrs. Varksburg's mother-in-law also went to Michigan. I have been a Michigan fan since when I was 15 years old. When I get the opportunity to go visit my friends and the Michigan fans at the University of Michigan campus, I would love to visit this dining hall. Go Blue!”

Would like to come back here for entrees considering how good the apps were. Good selection of local beers, largely Arbor Brewing and a few other craft standouts.

“Hot Pot Chen will forever be one of my comfort restaurants and one of my favorite Chinese spots in Ann Arbor. My family has been going there since I was little, back when it was still Gourmet Garden, so every time I eat there it honestly feels like getting a taste of my childhood again.
Some of my staple favorites have stayed the exact same all these years because they’re just THAT good. The lamb in two styles is seriously one of the best dishes I’ve ever had at any Chinese restaurant anywhere. I genuinely don’t think I’ve had another place prepare it quite the same way. Absolute perfection every single time.
Their sesame beef is also unreal. Crispy, sweet, savory, rich, beefy — it almost tastes like savory candy in the best possible way. I think it’s genuinely one of the best Chinese entrées in Ann Arbor.
I’ll also forever ride and die for their garlic chicken because it feels like the perfect balanced comfort meal with tons of vegetables and the most fragrant garlicky sauce. And as a lifelong dumpling lover, their pan-fried dumplings and dumpling sauce are always mandatory. I love a dumpling with a slightly thicker wrapper that can really soak up all the delicious sauce, and theirs absolutely hit every time.
Another longtime family favorite is the mango beef, which sounds unexpected but somehow works so well.
I also just love the nostalgia of the restaurant itself — especially the big back room with the massive round tables and spinning lazy Susan trays that always made dinners feel special growing up.
Now that I live only a few minutes away, it’s become even more dangerous for me because I crave it constantly. Forever one of my go-to spots.”

I went there for lunch with a friend, and it was exactly the kind of place you want for a slow, easy conversation over good food. The menu has a nice variety. Everything we tried was fresh and well-prepared. I ordered a matcha latte that came with a tiny bear-shaped foam on top, which was a fun touch. We also loved the comfortable seating. The swing chairs gave the place a playful vibe without feeling gimmicky. Service was friendly and fairly quick, even though the place was busy. Prices are on the higher end for Bucharest but fair for the quality and atmosphere. If you’re into places that balance aesthetics with solid food and a relaxed feel, Zola is worth checking out.”

I ended up getting the BBQ burger, some fries, the Biscoff milkshake for me and the Nutella milkshake for my daughter. When I tell you this was the best burger I’ve ever had I sincerely mean that. I had to grab another to go for the road back home. Came back again today to get another one and it tasted just as amazing as the 1st time. These guys do not miss!!! Only thing is I wish they were closer to where I live which is the Kalamazoo area. But any time I’m passing through like today I will definitely stop as long as they’re here! Sorry for the long story but needed to add the backstory how I stumbled upon this place!”
