Miss Kim 415 N 5th Ave, Ann Arbor Korean • $$$

“I’m giving all the stars for one reason: Masha. We like eating here and enjoy the food and service consistently. We’re Koreans and don’t expect traditional Korean food here : Miss Kim has its own special identity.
I’m writing this review because I just got off the phone with Masha, who was absolutely amazing while helping me confirm my reservation for my daughter’s graduation. I needed to adjust it form party of 3 to party of 4, and as you can imagine, everything is fully booked everywhere. However, she took the time to reconfigure and rearrange and made it happen. She was so friendly and competent, it truly surprised me. Absolutely wonderful experience with this staff. Give this person a raise! Wow! Bravo!”

“Was craving hotpot and palace tang didn’t disappoint! Good broth variety, just wish they had a bit more flavor in them! My favorites were tomato and golden soup (top right & bottom left). Toppings were good quality. Each item pricing is pretty fair, ranging from $5-$20. The crab and pork soup dumplings were surprisingly great too!

I would come back!”

Echelon Kitchen and Bar 200 S Main St, Ann Arbor Bar • $$$$

“What a gem! Echelon is truly an amazing experience! In fact, our experience was so remarkable, we ate there twice while in town. The restaurant is gorgeous, a real feast for the eyes that gives a significant nod to the building’s rich architectural past while pulling a warm art deco design in a space fitting for an architectural magazine. As amazing as the space was the entire service and food team. Our servers – Jenn on night one and Ella on night two – were so friendly, knowledgeable and everyone went above and beyond to ensure our experience at Echelon was something we would never forget (and we won’t!). We even got visits from the kitchen with Chef Joe VanWagner coming by to greet us, expediter and professional forager Marc Jacob Qualls-Sanchez coming by for a long session on his foraging expertise (amazing!), and even their new tiki bar (coming soon!) manager Max giving us the DL on that space and renovations. We felt like royalty! For a special treat above and beyond the food, service, and overall experience, the Echelon team passed around menus that night to have all the front and back of house staff autograph it for us! I am so excited to add this to the unforgettable memories of our trip to Ann Arbor. It’s absolutely no wonder that Echelon was nominated for a James Beard award. Every bite, every conversation, every story, every sensation was top-shelf!”

The Chop House Ann Arbor 322 S Main St, Ann Arbor Steak House • $$$$

“Food is great. Staff is amazing. The fact that it's supposed to be a high end steak house and they let people in that are wearing sweats or short shorts is wrong. also, letting people in that are very loud, and dropping cuss words is terrible. The worse part was that to get to the bathroom, you have to walk thru a haze of smoke that is very thick. I have very bad lungs and I was thrown into a coughing fit so bad both times I went to the bathroom that it made my chest and throat hurt and made it hard for me to enjoy my food. To add, the next day I was violently sick throwing up. I will never come bacj again.”

“A few years ago I searched on Google for "highest rated restaurant near me" and Everest ranked #1. I've eaten there for my birthday celebration meal, and at other times, in the five or six years since. It's rare to find great food, great service, and at a great price in the post-Covid era. In my experience Everest is the best of these combined categories in the Ann Arbor to Dearborn corridor along I-94. No where else that I've eaten since moving back to the area in 2011 comes close.”

“I work in downtown Ann Arbor, and have been coming to Le Dog/La Soup for years. I have enjoyed every dog and every soup I have gotten from them. Their primary offering is a great rotating selection of unique soups (several vegetarian/vegan options), but they also have standard hot dogs + turkey franks + polish sausage with some topping options. Pricing is reasonable - the soups are well worth the cost. There is no dedicated seating, but they do have a small bar/counter where you can stand and eat. If you are in Ann Arbor and looking for a quick and easy lunch, I highly recommend Le Dog. They are great year-round, but especially during the cold winter months!”

“Good place to eat and get a beer. Anthony was our server and did a good job. My artichoke dip came out without the dip but Anthony quickly fixed it. And it was really good. The girl at the door seating everyone seemed really odd. I told her we needed two seats. She grabbed the menues and silverware. We followed her to our table. She put the items on the table and left without saying a single word to us. I usually expect them to say follow me or tell me who will be our server. She didn’t say a word. Seemed mad. But it is a beer and burger place. Maybe I expect too much of people.”

I ordered a latte and a small pastry, both were good and tasted fresh. The barista was friendly, maybe a little busy but still polite. Seating is a little tight if it gets crowded, but thats kinda normal for smaller cafes. Overall it felt like a nice neighborhood spot where you can just sit, sip your coffee, and slow down for a bit. I'd come back again.”

“Came here on a Friday night with a couple friends and it turned out to be a pretty chill spot. The music wasn’t too loud, so we could actually talk without yelling the whole time, which I appreciated. Drinks were decent, not the best I’ve ever had but def not bad either. Bartender seemed a bit busy but still managed to be nice and check in on us. Place got more crowded later on, but it still felt comfortable. Only thing is it took a little while to get our second round, but nothing crazy. Overall a good place to hang out and unwind.”

“A friend recommended this restaurant to me and it sounded like a fun time, after a week we went there. The inside is clean, modern and simple. You have to wait to be seated, once we sat down we were given water right away which is a wonderful way to show good service early. I ordered the spicy pork, fried rice with chicken and hot sake. Before we got our meal, we were given all different types of sauces and appetizers. Like coleslaw, broiled and seasoned broccoli, some kind of spicy fish which I really enjoyed and a very spicy sauce that looked brownish and another sauce that was bright red & black and was also a bit spicy. After making conversation and enjoying the appetizers, 10 to 15 minutes, the spicy pork was brought out on this grilling plate, sizzling and looked very appetizing and tasty. For me and my friend this was the first experience we at Seoul Garden and I was blown away, I love the service more then anything and all of the service staff deserve raises. - Jacob Anderson, thanks for the wonderful meal SG! “We visited Mani for the first time with our group of 6 friends. The restaurant is cute and the different levels and layout was nice. Very cool to see the open kitchen. The tables were very small and cramped. We were at a table for 6 but with 6 adults we barely had room to move our arms comfortably due to how short the table was and how close to the wall. We visited around 8 pm so it was very busy but even being that busy, our cocktails took an exceptionally long time to come out. We got the calamari and the focaccia to share. The calamari was good and the focaccia with the honey butter and chili oil was honestly the best bread any of us have ever had. The combination of the bread and the butter and honey and chili oil was unexpected but absolutely fantastic and delicious. I got the Cacio e Pepe which was very good. I tried my friend’s shrimp scampi pasta and it was fantastic. The pizza was also very good. I got the isalita margarita and the espresso cocktail which were both delicious. Our sever was good as well overall. The only other complaint is that for the 6 of us all of our meals came out separately. I have never been to a restaurant where they don’t hold the food until it’s all ready to come out. There was almost 10 minutes between the first person who got food and the last of us who did. Luckily the phenomenal food and drinks will bring us back but hoping next time the service is a little more organized and we can get a table for 6 in the middle and not crammed against the wall.”

“TLDR; TBP is a very intimate venue with excellent shows. (@Steve Hoffstetter) The Blind Pig did a great job managing our ADA/accommodation and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Regardless of your disability, (or lack of disability), if you have a chance to visit The Blind Pig- do it! You won’t regret it. They went above and beyond, (where so very many other businesses fail) was with our accommodations; as my mother used a cane to get around after breaking her hip. While yes, they legally are obligated to because of the ADA, however, where some places do the bare minimum, like leave people hanging, or make them feel like a burden for asking, TBP makes you feel truly welcome. Faith made sure my phone calls were returned in a very timely fashion (I purchased the tickets a day and a half before the show- she was definitely on it, to respond so quickly with care). Our seats were marked reserved, there were multiple people who could direct us where to go and who to contact (if needed) upon arrival. There’s been something that happened in our family several months ago that hasn’t brought joy to any of us; and seeing my mother relax and laugh, like she hasn’t done in months, made the extra night special. Thank you Faith, Molly, and all the other employees of TBP for making it a truly memorable experience. I can’t wait to see another show there. 💕”

“Check out my I G lawyer.traveler.dreamer for more footage of our dining experience. Zola Bistro in Bucharest is one of those places that instantly makes you want to stay longer. The floral decor is beautiful without feeling overdone. The space feels cozy and stylish at the same time. I went there for lunch with a friend, and it was exactly the kind of place you want for a slow, easy conversation over good food. The menu has a nice variety. Everything we tried was fresh and well-prepared. I ordered a matcha latte that came with a tiny bear-shaped foam on top, which was a fun touch. We also loved the comfortable seating. The swing chairs gave the place a playful vibe without feeling gimmicky. Service was friendly and fairly quick, even though the place was busy. Prices are on the higher end for Bucharest but fair for the quality and atmosphere. If you’re into places that balance aesthetics with solid food and a relaxed feel, Zola is worth checking out.”

Mynt House 118 S Main St, Ann Arbor Coffee Shops

“Oh my gosh, the hospitality at this place is absolutely unmatched! Mynt House hosted my team's end-of-year celebration brunch, and it was the smoothest, kindest, most generous process I've encountered as an event planner. Manager Tex and his team made everything so easy. We had the entire upstairs space reserved, which is a gorgeous space with plenty of room for eating and mingling. The noise level was great, the access to food and beverage tables was easy, and they had everything set up for us when we arrived. Then there was the FOOD. Delicious and plentiful. Everyone raved about it! The staff was so flexible and anticipated our needs (an extra table appeared when our group outgrew the existing table before I even realized it was happening!) Plus, Tex was able to work within my team's budget and accommodate a list of allergies and dietary restrictions. Our experience here was so wonderful that my director asked to hold this event at Mynt House every year from now on. This is a true hidden gem in Ann Arbor, and I can't recommend them enough!”

“We are frequent visitors of the Packard location, even before, when it was at Menyard st, downtown. We love you guys!
However: when ordering takeout: When we order the mild it lacks the flavor punch. But when we order medium it’s on the border of what we can handle heat-spice wise. When ordering takeout there is no other option. And putting it in the comments is hit-or-miss. Would be good if medium actually worked for flavor and a nice bit of heat, that is not on the uncomfortable edge.”
