“If you like lots of beans, this is the place for you! My wife and I went there recently for dinner, I had Beef Nachos and my wife had a quesadilla. I swear they were both 75% beans! The other ingredients were fresh and tasty, there was very little meat. The service was decent but we won’t be going back.“

Kid-friendliness: Friendly, pretty quick and give you a beeper for when your food is ready, they were one of the first, So you can wait in your car until it's ready...

“Service is exceptional. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and margaritas are genuinely great. Food could do better, they are pretty small portions. We would do the nachos every time and sometimes we’d order 2 for 2 people because it’s kinda small. For the price it’s fair though, it’s not expensive. Very easy to stay under $100 for two people for food and drinks.“

“Gran Maya is housed in a former Big Boy. It is a large space, which allows them to space things out enough so you don't feel cramped like some places. The booths are all custom made and they are comfortable.

We were met at our table almost immediately by Carlos, who is mentioned in some other reviews for is great service. Our experience was no exception. As we sat down, a basket of warm corn chips and a bottle of salsa were delivered to the table.

Some have complained that the salsa is not hot. That's true. Many Yankees don't like spicy food. However, they have two types of hot sauce at the table and I was able to get just the heat level I was looking for. My wife is one of those people who doesn't like heat, but they gave us each our own little bowl to pour it into.

My wife had the salmon. She says it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was very tasty. She would have asked for it on the side, but it is listed in the menu as a dip, although it is presented as a sauce. The veggies included with it were not first rate, but they were well prepared. It's nice to get any vegetables at all in a Mexican restaurant.

I have the street tacos, I chose Al Pastor, Carnitas, and Birria. Beans and rice were also included. These were nothing special, but I do appreciate that moderation on the cheese. The Al Pastor was tasty. It has a little smokiness that's really nice, although it was a bit on the dry side. The Carnitas was my favorite. It was moist, tender, and delicious. I was really looking forward to the Birria. It was a little disappointing. There was a bit too much fat for my liking. I had to take some off. Also, the flavor wasn't as strong as I expected.

The menu is huge. We will go back and try some other things.

Vegetarian options: Most of the vegetarian options have significant amounts of cheese, but it's nice to see so many of them. Vegetarians will definitely not feel left out of the party. Vegans will need to be more selective.“

“I ordered online and I thought I had picked the location closest to me which is across the road and when I went to pick it up there was no order. Somehow I ended up ordering from a different location but the washtenaw location still made my order immediately knowing I was on lunch and had to get back to work. It took maybe 5 minutes or so. “Today I visited for the first time with a coupon for a free Knockout taco, I had the Gladiator, which was excellent. I had visited this chain of restaurants once before in Seattle, and was not impressed. But today I had such an awesome taco I will be back. What I noticed most that had changed was the steak was seasoned nicely and it was not chewy or like it had been sitting for awhile. The quality of the food and flavor have improved remarkably, keep up the good food and friendly service!!!“

“I love the food but at the Ann Arbor location the cleanliness has gone down hill fast. I go in there 1-2 times a week and the floor is dirty, windows are dirty, sneeze guards are always dirty. Bathrooms never have paper towels and always dirty. just looks so I start thinking whether or not things are clean to make the food. Staff is always polite but a year ago they had different people working there and it was cleaned better. I love eating there but may need to stop.“
