Chela's tacos are absolutely delicious! They have so much flavor, and the salsas are homemade. I wish I lived closer, I would go all the time. Definitely check them out!

We enjoyed everything except the carne asada tacos, which were bland, and the meat was dry with little flavor. It felt like boiled meat and not juicy grilled steak. However, our other tacos, queso cheese, and salsa were fantastic. The price is pretty reasonable, too.

-Atmosphere-Seemed decent, was busy and full of laughter and family so I would say it was pretty nice.-Service-Was the best part about the restaurant, they have very good service and are fast and friendly. They also are accurate with their order and can accommodate any changes to items you want to receive. Did a good job.-Food-The food was slightly underwhelming. As far as the area, they are probably one of the better Mexican restaurants but there are some flavors and techniques lacking in the meals. All in all 3.5/5 flames from me. Would say check it out if you are in the area and want to try something closer to Mexican food than not.

We eat at Chela’s every other weekend. Food is usually decent considering the price. I don’t recommend drinks, their lemonade used to be good, not anymore. It is not that nice to sit and eat. Ann Arbor does not have good authentic Mexican restaurants. So, this one’s OK given there are not much alternatives.

This place nothing if not consistent. The food is ALWAYS good, I’ve eaten here for years. You really can’t go wrong with anything, that’s the hard part; picking something! Carnitas (or Birria tacos on Friday and Saturday only) and the limeade are my go to. The owner is a nice family man and it’s a great experience supporting a business like that, especially when the food and service is always 100%.

On my first visit, I got simple nachos with an add-on of steak. I took it to go and within several minutes, I opened the box. It looked amazing; the ingredients are perfectly portioned, and are of good quality! I'm impressed with how incredible you can make nachos with excellent salsa and quality ingredients. Thank you!

Pros: Relatively cheap Good beverages Fast service Cons: Bland food Skimping on food Lots of other, better options Wow, I think the food quality has gone downhill in the past year or so. Bland rice, bland tacos(meat and veggies). The elote had barely anything on it-like they were trying to skimp out on chili powder and cheese. it would have been so easy and cheap to load up on what makes elote so good but instead it was closer to plain corn on the cobb. Whats great about the Ann Arbor-Ypsi area is how many amazing Mexican and South American places there are. Go to one of those other ones. The upside here is that the food is relatively cheap compared to the food prices of other Ann Arbor restaurants. but its about the same price as other taquerias in Washtenaw so again: just go to one of the other places, same (or cheaper) taco prices and better taste.

The tacos are very delicious. The quantity and quality are commensurate with the slightly higher price. To be honest, the menu layout and font size were difficult to read, so I thought it would be difficult for first-time customers to order.

Chelas is one of my all time favorite places in all of Ann Arbor. The staff and food are both out of this world amazing. My favorite tacos are the Al pastor and the chorizo. Simple, fresh, and authentic.

Burrito vegetariano. They included what I asked for, but added orange peppers, which I didn't want. I mean, they check the boxes: fresh ingredients, organic beans, etc etc. But it was tasteless. B-minus for the burritio is being generous. Three stars instead of two because they are trying to be good and seem nice.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in town. Recommend their carnitas taco! Hot sauce has three spicy levels, all very tasty. Staffs are very friendly as well.

I was very disappointed with the portion size. I ordered loaded burrito bowel. It came in small side dish. I paid $11.88 for something that reduced 35% in size. Unfortunately I will choose chipotle instead next time only because their portions haven’t shrunk.
