I grew up in Ann Arbor during the '70s. And while this came along later, my mom was a big fan for years. She took me here to it the first time. It's an Arbor vibe. International. playing reggae music.Low key atmosphere casual affordable, serving Indian soul food. thank you earthen jar for putting out such nourishing tasty food for so long.Dietary restrictions: its Gluten free, as I understand it. except for if you order naan

This place is a historical landmark for great veg food. It's not fancy, you pay by the pound, but the food is wonderful. It's all clearly labeled with allergens, spice and whether vegan or not. I had great saag, samosas, veg curry and lychee juice. They have wonderful lassis and kombucha, as well. I'm going to try to get here on a regular basis for my vegan Indian fix.

Located in an old building with lots of charm and character. The owner is very nice. I was so excited to see all the vegan options. I really appreciate that the vegan options were labeled clearly and it's eco-friendly. I love the collection of vegan desserts. I enjoyed the vegan mango lassi. The buffet is mostly vegan. From the buffet items, I recommend the sag dal and channa masala.

I attended the downtown Farmington Veg Fest and the Earthen Jar was one of the featured vendors. Although I am not a vegan, I enjoyed the entree that I tried and I plan to visit their restaurant in Ann Arbor.

Kind of a hole in the wall downtown with only a couple tables and unusual hours - no matter. Bring your own containers (they will tare them and charge by the pound), and load up on delicious home-cooked Indian food, most of it vegan (watch out for paneer and cream). Great food, lovely people, mostly vegan, and even better: zero waste! Love these guys.
Was lucky enough to try this food out at University of Michigan Hospital where they occasionally cater their food. Amazing cholle, and daal palak. Service was good too by the gentleman working the food stand!

I'm of Indian descent and I know how involved the use of ghee and yogurt is in Indian cooking. I personally don't think a lot of Indians who own these restaurants providing only Indian food understand veganism so I unfortunately don't order food from them.
However, Earthen Jar is a place that I completely trust. The owners are incredibly friendly and completely understand; everything is labeled clearly and there are plentiful options for vegans. I personally love their saag daal and it totally is the comfort food I miss.

What an amazing place - buffet style with 8 different vegan options - a vegan mango lassi - and many vegan desserts. The food was all super delicious- not very spicy bc buffet style - but can't wait to go back.
