Best chicken and waffles in Ann Arbor! Just moved here from down South, and I've been searching everywhere for a good chicken and waffles. This place nails it. I'm not too big on spice, so I went with the mild tenders. It was amazing, seasoned really well. I was even surprised with an extra tender in my meal! Waffles are thick and freshly made. My only complaint was the music volume. They were BLASTING these oldie bops, which was awesome, but a little hard on my ears lol. I'll definitely be returning for the food!
So I placed a pick up order and was surprised when I got to work and opened up what I thought was chicken and waffles( I ordered based on the photo) to what was chicken on a donut. There was no description of any of the food they serve or the ingredients in the items. What was more disappointing was when I called the store to voice my concern and try to rectify the situation. The employee told me I was a liar that wasn’t the picture they advertised for the item and refused to help with the situation. Told me there was no manager and told me “ I could bring the sandwich back and pay the extra money for the chicken and waffles” I would’ve had no problem doing such if I didn’t use up my lunch to go get it. The macaroni was more oily than cheese and just all around not a good experience for trying this place out.
Absolutely hands down THE best waffle I've ever had. Amazing service and friendly staff. Thanks for making our day.
Expensive, not very hot, and seasoning was meh.
There's better options.
We decided to try this place out since Stray Hen was packed. The chicken was great! It is made fresh, so be willing to wait a little bit but it is definitely worth it.
Ordered from here twice, first time was not very good. Ordered again, and the chicken was practically burnt. Very disappointed because I was hungry. Food is just not good, will not be returning
Greatest chicken in Ann Arbor. This place hits diff.
I chose the tenders. That seasoning is everything! So crispy. Definitely be back. And a decent price
Excellent fried chicken, never dried out. Staff of friendly and accommodating. I called with a request and the person was very patient with my misunderstanding and was very helpful.
This is our go to fried chicken in Ann Arbor.
The food was pretty amazing and reminded me of home. The chicken was cooked to perfect, nice and flaky, and not too spicy. Definitely recommend

Bad service, bad food, dirty restaurant
The food is delicious you may choose spicy level for its chicken, price is reasonable and most importantly its halal.
I want you to place yourself in my shoes. imagine... it's a cold winter day in ann arbor, michigan. walking down division street, i see... what's this? a restauarant? with food? if you can imagine yourself in my shoes, i am very ravenous. my stomach... it yearns for sustenance. i decide that Fat Daddy's HOT Chicken & Waffles is the perfect place to satiate my gluttony... i ordered the tenders but was moderately alarmed to have been served what appeared to be an entire deep fried rat. i was absolutely appalled to have been served a RAT from the kitchen. i will not ever again be supporting this business with my patronage. this is unacceptable. the health department will be in contact with your establishment, promptly.
Arrived at 1pm on a Friday during UofM holiday break. We walked from the art museum which was about a 10 minute walk.
As we walked in I was anticipating it to be busy. One of the cooks was sitting in the dining room and we were the only people there. That was kind of concerning but I get it because students were on break. We ordered three two piece jumbo chicken and fries. Two with no spice and one hot. The gentleman taking our order was hard to understand due to his heavy Indian accent. As we waited in the small dining area it was almost like the guy cooking and the guy at the cash register was arguing about something. Me and my wife kept looking at each other like “what’s going on” it was almost like Hell’s Kitchen when Gordon was yelling at his staff. Well it wasn’t that bad but it was a little uncomfortable.
Anyways we received out food in to go boxes which was confusing because we told then we were dining in. Everything is deep fried. The fries were just ok and the chicken was dry as expected because of it being deep fried. The hot seasoning was really hot but it wasnt a good hot, hardly any flavor. It’s like habanero was just sprinkled onto the chicken. The sauce they give you is minuscule and you would need 4x the amount in my opinion. The sauce is nothing like Dave’s or Canes it’s almost like a pepper mayonnaise base.
All in all the food was ok at best. It’s definitely overpriced because of the location. I wouldn’t go back but if you like deep fried chicken and downtown Ann Arbor definitely go check it out.
The food here is good but the blue lemonade is like crack. I had two large cups of that deliciousness 🤤 OMG! The customer service from the young lady who helped use was beyond great but the guys preparing the food needed some help. They forgot my sides, had to remind them 😒. No dipping sauce was given. It's all good the chicken didn't need it. I was starving so I didn't take any pictures of my food. Next time 😉
