I ate here a couple months ago, finally, authentic Chinese food! Great options for lovers of spicy food too

The taste of the food is okay, but you can make it at home, and the small portion is a bit disappointing for the price. The rice was very dry, and it felt like it had been cooked for at least a few nights. It would be impossible to swallow the rice without adding water.

I had high expectations from reading the reviews, unfortunately the experience left me fairly disappointed with this new place. I ordered takeouts from their menu highlights. The pork stir fry with peppers was so poorly made, the peppers were not fresh, and the sliced pork varied greatly in thickness, size, and shape…Mapo tofu didn't match the advertised image at all, basically some small tofu cubes swimming in bland red oils, lacking the aroma the spices should have.

Very authentic Sichuanese cuisine. I recommend the stewed pork hocks and the ginger scallion chicken!

I lived in China for seven years and this is the most authentic tasting, high quality, delicious Chinese food in Ann Arbor. The menu is limited, but every dish is cooked to perfection!

Food is really great. However, it was a little hard to find the pick up location. But the owner was very kind at giving me the directions!

Wow! The food was great! Loved all the spices and flavors. Not a huge menu which is great. You can tell there is much care put into each dish. We basically ordered half the menu and will try the other half next time. The owner is very friendly and passionate about her food.

Picked up an order at their new church location. A little hard to find the right entrance but once you know to go to the back of the church it is easy. The owner was very nice and apologetic about a minor confusion on the order. Ordered the Leshan Beef and the Hunan Pork Belly. Leshan Beef was mild. The Pork Belly is not for the faint of heart. She warned us it was spicy, which I like but this dish was one of the spiciest dishes I’ve ordered in a long time! I’d recommend it but just make sure to have a glass of milk or beer nearby.

Huge fan of this place. Best kung pao chicken I have had, char sui pork is fantastic, moist and so flavorful, & love the schezuan peppercorn tingle in the mapo tofu. Highly recommend Gai’s Kitchen!!!
