Long story short, from out of town, stopped in for a drink. Spoke to the owner who couldn't have been nicer! Ran some errands and needed to refuel. Because we we're treated so kindly we went back for lunch. The fish & chips was really good - the breading wasn't too heavy & very crunchy & flavorful.

I’m not one to normally write a review, but I can’t ignore a few glaring issues. This place has gone downhill quickly since they brought in a consultant and remodeled. Me and a group friends have been going to Haymaker weekly for Wednesday night trivia for over a year. We even attended the Grand Reopening after they closed for “improvements.”
I will give them credit that food was genuinely improved! Other than that all they seemed to do was paint the walls a sterile white color. However, there is an extremely glaring change that has noticeably affected the staff. Increasingly, we are seeing more and more staff turnover and service has been suffering. Before the changes, the service was so quick and the servers were so friendly. Now, we’re luck if they come around twice during the two hours we’re there for trivia.
They are also getting stingy with the loyal customers that attend trivia. They obvious put emphasis on trivia by offer it and other group games 4 nights a week. They no longer offer a meal to the trivia host (who brings in many of their customers) and have slashed the prices of the prizes. They also cut many of the deals that were offered during trivia night. It’s disappointing that the patron experience is being suffered due to greedy cost cutting tactics.
We have been loyal patrons for a while now and it’s sad to see a place that had such great character be negatively impacted by these “improvements.” What’s worse is how negatively it affected their staff.
It’s great if you’re just looking for a place to eat. But if you’re looking for your “spot” this just isn’t it anymore. Sadly, we’ll be looking for a new home base.

Favorite date night spot for sure. Also kid friendly, we love to take the little ones and play board and card games. Food is delicious and mostly made from scratch. Wait staff and manager are wonderful. Great service. Check it out on trivia night! Definitely recommend for your next night out in Ann Arbor!

Very good cheeseburger, trivia with prizes, lots of beers, ciders and cocktails. Dart boards are in good shape. Get there early for happy hour. Recent remodel brightened up the place, and the menu has several new things too!

Food was really good.... as you can see. Service ok..... forgot the chicken for the salad, then when it came out was fried not grilled. Drinks were yummy. Lemonade, Blueberry, Vodka.. perfect for a hot day.

May 2024 update, post-update: oh, how the mighty have fallen. Their best menu items are gone, and what’s left is full-in-the-blank pub grub mediocrity with the same obnoxious prices. The atmosphere is somehow worse. The workers almost all seem super green, which leads me to think their closure was from a mass-walkout. There’s zero reason to come here anymore. RIP
