Aaron knocked it out of the park. We were at Mott hospital and came here after a procedure. Ate ribs, fries ,coleslaw , pulled chicken sandwich. Yum. Lean meaty ribs great sauces too

Good ribs, good chicken, good pizza. The pizza's on a medium crust --- think Domino's, not Pizza Hut or New York. The chicken's fried, but with a much thinner crust than most places --- just lightly breaded. The ribs fall apart nicely. The baked beans and collards are both heavy on the bacon; not a good "one-vegetarian-at-the-table" option like they are at some places. The cornbread is slathered in butter, wrapped in foil, then tossed in the oven for a minute --- good stuff. The biscuits are so loaded with butter and honey that I count them as a dessert. There are some basic tables for eating there, but no booths or comfy chairs. Aamani's is attached to a party store --- handy if you're trying to pick up ribs and beer. The owner is always stretched a little thin --- guy either needs more hours in the day, or more employees.

One evening in Ann Arbor we were in need of a takeout meal to suit a variety of people with diverse interests in food and our host suggested this place nearby. Win on multiple levels. We all got items that were yummy and pleased us. It was easy to pick up, easy parking and affordable by my local comparison places at home. A very small operation and a bit overwhelmed when we went. But a very friendly proprietor working very hard to keep up. It was worth it. The pork ribs were probably my favorite item, perfectly smoked, tender and very meaty. Good sauce options on the side. Very good coleslaw, my usual favorite side. The fried chicken was a bit dry but still quite enjoyable. The collards were really great. The beans just fine. Cornbread and and biscuit were a bit rich for a dinner for me but the others had no issues. The pizza was pretty good for a place dedicated to smoked and fried meats, a fine choice for groups that include the meat free or just love pizza, with or without a meat meal. Lots of fresh toppings, many veggie options, baked well though a heavier crust than my standard choice, not too bready to enjoy and nice and cheesy. Definitely a place I will return too.

First time at this joint. Best wings I've had in AA. The gentleman making my delicious grub offered me some pulled pork while I waited. Great customer service, and even better food. Looking forward to sampling the rest of their menu.

Hey, Guy Fieri! This place needs to be on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives"! Aamani's is quintessential Triple D: A smokehouse and pizza place that shares space with a liquor store. Aamani's serves up awesome smoky meats, homemade sauces, killer sides, and another southern favorite - fried catfish. The corn bread is not to be missed, and trust me when I say that I could eat the cherry horseradish BBQ sauce on basically anything. And, of course, pizza... Because, why not?! Specials vary throughout the week with highlights including Coney dogs on Monday, a smokehouse take on Taco Tuesday, and Jambalaya on Fridays. All of this is run out of a small counter with a few tables for eat-in diners. Catering trays of all this and more are reportedly also available, and I definitely plan to order in the ensuing weeks once Michigan tailgate season is in full swing. I highly recommend checking this place out... Guy, I'm talking to you!

We're customers for life! We've eaten here many times since moving to the area, always a treat. Ordering online for pickup is the way to go. We've tried a mix of meats and sides, and everything is made so thoughtfully. He make his own sauces: cherry horseradish, sweet & spicy, homemade ranch. Can't go wrong!! The meats are well seasoned, good flavor. The buns come packaged separately and toasted. :') AND THE SIDES. I love meat, and I love the brisket from Aamani's, but these sides are what I come for. THE CORNBREAD is incredible. It's buttery and with the perfect amount of sugar and salt, and each piece comes with the sides browned. It's that kind of cornbread that makes you wanna cry~ Baked beans are good. Like, really good. I didn't think one could ever get excited about baked beans. And also coleslaw?? I never thought I'd say the words, "You've gotta try this coleslaw." But I say it to people about Aamani's coleslaw. It has a light, tangy dressing and tiny lil mango chunks.... The only time I have ever ordered extra coleslaw. Their mac and cheese is herby and cheesy. It's not my personal favorite style of mac and cheese (almost too cheesy), but cheese-lovers (like my partner) will love it. In conclusion, I dream about their cornbread all the time and I talk about it to anyone who will listen. Hard work and passion for his craft clearly reflected in the food. You should eat here!

Most of the other reviewers have covered a lot of ground here, but not many mentions of Aamani's pizza. So, I thought I'd review just the pizza today. This pizza is one of the best-kept secrets in Ann Arbor - in a town where we already have plenty of good pizzas choices. Aamani's pizza is handmade with care. I've ordered about five times and the quality is consistent. The dough and sauce are awesome and homemade. The sauce has more herbs and spices in it than any other pizza I know of. There's plenty of cheese and the crust is slightly think and perfectly done. I meant to take a picture of today's pizza intact, but forgot in my haste to dig in Unless a person only likes really thin crust pizzas, I don't see how anyone wouldn't like this pizza. Give it a try.

We were not impressed with our delivery order. "Smoked" chicken plate tasted like it was baked in the oven. Same for the ribs. The meat was tender but the chicken was dry and neither dish had a smoked flavor. Beans were thin. Reminded me of retried bean texture. Coleslaw was okay. Had mangos so was different but would have enjoyed traditional coleslaw better. We also ordered a 3 pc fried chicken meal. Fried chicken was like KFC standard recipe not even extra crispy which is what I was expecting. The best things that arrived was the corn bread and biscuit. Both bread items were moist and delicious.

Omg, a friend said this place was good but that's not even close. The ribs were the best in Ann Arbor. The beans were incredible, I licked the pan and the corn bread was amazing too. I hate to write such a good review because I want to keep this place to myself. The owner was also very helpful and nice. I'll be returning often.

This place is amazing! The food is spectacular. The owner was so kind and gracious. We had the ribs, which were smoked to perfection. The sauces are all homemade with great flavor...a different sauce for every palate. My son had a smoked chicken sandwich, that he devoured. The sides were also to die for. The greens were perfectly cooked with a sweet/heat flavor. The beans...OMG...the beans were so good. Unique and delicious flavor with a little pulled pork added for flavor...Soo good!! Cornbread. That cornbread was probably the best cornbread I've ever had. Lastly, the owner was so kind...telling us a little of his story, waiting on us and he was even so kind as to offer to stay open past closing when we walked in s few minutes before closing time. If you're in Ann Arbor, don't think twice...just eat here...you won't regret it! You can feel the passion and love for cooking in his food!

What an experience. Aaron was super friendly and the food was absolutely amazing. Be sure to get there before 5:30 to beat the dinner rush. Delicious ribs and chicken, 3 amazing BBQ sauces, great coleslaw, cornbread to die for, etc. You will not be disappointed.

What a find! I was looking for a place to grab some quick carry out, and found the spot for bbq sandwiches. Great menu, crispy fried chicken, and the tastiest collard greens that I've had in my life! A sole proprietor working his tail off to make the American Dream happen. The Wicked Wednesday shaved ribeye sandwich was great. Also shared the wings and pulled chicken sandwich. Both good. Also tried a pieces of the fried chicken...light and crispy on the outside, steamy hot within. Unfortunately, I walked out without my collard greens !

Aamani's has been down the street from our house for a while but we finally gave it a shot this past weekend and I have to say--having this place so close to us is going to be trouble! In the best way possible. My husband and I both went with the half slab of ribs plate which each came with delicious, fall of the bone ribs, tasty smokehouse beans (I have to say I'm not a huge fan of bbq beans in general but these were excellent), a hunk of fantastic cornbread, and a really tasty vinegar based coleslaw. The owner had mentioned that I was the last order of the day so he also hooked us up with an order of smoked wings which, is the direct line to my heart. My husband can attest, I am a chicken wing nut so getting an order to try was fantastic. He also gave us a variety of dipping sauces to try. Did I mention the owner is awesome? He is. Very passionate and knowledgable about his products. We chatted for a good while about the food! The space is no frills with a bit of seating and it's attached to the adjacent party store, which makes grabbing beers to go with your order easy. The servings are generous and we each easily two meals out of our order and they reheated beautifully. Can't wait to come back and get other items. In particular I've got my eye on the fried chicken and pulled pork! Call in ahead to have your order ready for you. You won't regret it!

Lets bust this secret wide open!!! This place deserves major attention people! The food is all so YUM and made from scratch! I would eat here every day just to eat the honey butter biscuits .... OMG. I can't ever see myself getting sick of these and I don't even like cornbread but you will not see me pass theirs up! I've never actually dined in but we've been ordering takeout weekly every since our office discovered it. This is a hidden gem! UPDATE - The only thing I will say is their honey butter biscuits are hit or miss with how honey infused they are. I have probably gotten their biscuits about 6 or 7 times and 2 of the times the biscuit wasn't soaked with honey. Do not get me wrong, the biscuit was still DAMN good but not as good as when its infused with the honey. Wish this was more consistent, but also I don't care because its still so good :)

How is Aamani's still a secret? This place is amazing! Fast, casual, takeout joint with a few small tables to eat in. If you like fried chicken, you HAVE to try it here. If you love catfish (me!) it's the best around. Hot, fresh, with good dusting of spice. I had the 4 piece platter that comes with a biscuit, to share with my dad, and the last piece was still piping hot by the time I got to it. The honey butter biscuit is a treat but don't skip the dessert. Today the chef has a key lime cheesecake cup that is just right amount of sweet and tang to cut the spice of from the fish. Excellently balanced and completely made from scratch. Aamani's is no joke and Chef Aaron is the real deal. He just added taco Tuesday!! Too bad I found out just after we ate. (Dad forgot that is what we were there for; he was distracted by his obsession with the chicken) I won't forget next week! Check my pics for the tacos available and for only $2.50 each!
