bartender with the bleach damaged frizzy hair literally ignored every single one of my female friends and wouldn’t serve us 𝙐𝙣𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 a man was there ordering for us. very weird behavior only interacting with the men coming to the counter, despite us trying to be incredibly patient and understanding. and i’m talking without hyperbole waiting 30 minutes for a single shot, again, until a man came up to order for us. ONLY then she immediately served us (or rather the man ordering for us). yall need better bartenders that aren’t misogynistic towards women and predatory towards men. we went on a saturday and the bartender was wearing a white crop top and jean shorts.

charged me $5 to enter while my other two female friends got in for free. weird.
A great nightclub for adults. I really enjoy the bands that appear there. It's very dancer friendly with room to get your dance groove on.

Live is a venue with a lot of potential but falls flat because of the DJs. When it's good, it's amazing - but their house DJ is just not good. He plays music nobody knows and he isn't crafting a set, he's letting the same song that nobody knows play for 3-4 minutes. I'll sit outside and wait for a song I like so I go back in and it won't come. New DJ time because I want to love this venue and I can't when it's ruined by the music. The DJ they had after midnight on Friday August 1st was AWESOME though - bring in somebody knew and let Kevin retire!!

We’ve seen this bouncer a bunch of times, usually during gay nights, and honestly you wouldn’t even know he was straight. He’s super chill, never judgmental, always made everyone feel welcome especially during the drag shows. So seeing him visibly upset this time really threw us off.
It started when this group of girls tried to get in without paying. He was polite from what I saw; said he didn’t recognize them and it was $5 each. They tried flirting to get around it, and when that didn’t work, the vibe shifted fast. He even made a light, playful comment nothing wild, totally in line with the energy they brought. They twisted it into something it wasn’t once they got inside which I have experience my self as being Trans.
Later, on the dance floor, those same girls were acting wild like performatively loud, bumping into people, filming others without consent. It honestly made me and my friend Toni uncomfortable enough to step off for a bit. Just felt like they weren’t there for the community vibe, just attention. And yeah, they were definitely the privileged white cis straight woman type who come through and act like they own the space.
Later we saw him outside looking really down, and overheard the owner mentioning possibly firing him. That’s why we’re speaking up. He’s one of the few people at Live who actually makes the place feel safe and fun for everyone, not just whoever thinks the party is for them. If they let him go over some entitled drama, that would be a huge mistake. We’ve got his back.

I wasn’t involved in the situation, just happened to be standing nearby when a group of girls showed up and gave the bouncer a hard time about paying cover. He said it was $5 each unless he recognized them, and they weren’t having it. He didn’t raise his voice or get aggressive if anything, He handled it better than I would’ve.
What really made me review though, is that I later saw him outside, visibly upset. I overheard the owner talking about possibly letting him go over the whole thing. That would be a serious loss. This guy is as working by himself most the night , and I’ve always seen him be respectful and fair. I think those girls just didn’t like that they couldn’t flirt their way in for free. Not the first time I’ve seen that kind of thing here.

I want to give a huge out to the security guard, Tyson (I’m so sorry if I got that incorrect) he made me safe the whole night and when I lost my keys made a true effort to help. Loved the show, the people, and my security man Tyson!

The server dumped a drink on my shoes unfortunately. Other than that it was a nice place to let loose and dance.

One of Ann arbor's most popular places for live music. The live music is on Fridays at 6:30. A younger crowd comes in later for DJs.
