I'm a big fan of Lowertown Cafe, especially as someone who spends a lot of time on North Campus. The coffee is great, using Hyperion Coffee beans, and it's a great place to work during the day. At night, Lowertown turns into a bar, and hosts my favorite trivia night. The drinks are reasonably priced, service is good, and it's a fun place to hang out with friends. They're always changing and improving things, like the new pergola on their large outdoor patio. Do be mindful of parking availability, but if you're there on nights or weekends, the large UM parking lot across the street is free to use.

Hülya and Martin are the best! I love that they serve Hyperion beans and have games to play.

Perfect spot to visit with friends or get some homework done. Just away from campus enough that it’s not a hassle to get there, but it’s not constantly bustling. Early mornings here are the best, and I honestly can’t think of a coffee shop in Ann Arbor with an aesthetic I appreciate more, although maybe Vertex is a tie.

I had a wonderful visit. The servers were friendly, helpful and made a delicious Old Fashioned. I will certainly return and highly recommend this bar!

They serve baked goods from Beara Bakes, which is an incredible bakery baes in Ypsilanti. The coffee is good, the mochas are outstanding. The baristas are charming and I love the outdoor patio.

Service was super friendly, and drinks were good. My only issues are:

1.) I drove around for about 15 mins before I could find parking. I’m not sure if their lot is under construction, or if there is no parking. I called to ask, and they don’t have a phone number listed so that was difficult to find as well. When I did find the number no one answered.

2.) While sitting on the patio there was parking lot construction going on behind their building where the metal shade cover is. There were rocks / pebbles being flung and pelting myself from equipment being used to the point of having to move, and other people on their nice computers, etc. I know that’s not totally in your control but the over all experience was quite hectic when alls I was looking to do was unwind.

I love this place! Lowertown has nailed the coffee-by-day, cocktails-by-night concept. Whether I'm stopping by for my morning espresso or meeting friends for happy hour drinks, the quality is consistently excellent. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, both as baristas and bartenders. The outdoor seating is a differentiator. It's become my go-to neighborhood spot—exactly what Ann Arbor needed!

My favorite spot in town. The perfect spot to study or to meet up with friends and catch up. The coffee is excellent, the drinks solid, and the staff are sublime. The indoors is spacious with plenty of seating to bring a laptop and get some work done; the outdoors has tons of space, shaded and unshaded, and is pet friendly to boot. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

I stopped by yesterday to meet some friends and ordered a beer at the bar before joining them outside. As we were getting ready to leave, I looked around for a place to return my empty glass but didn’t see any bus tubs or collection areas. Wanting to be helpful, I walked back inside and placed the glass on the bar, assuming that would be the appropriate spot.

To my surprise, the bartender or manager followed me outside, handed the empty glass back to me, and told me to put it in the bus tubs—which I still hadn’t seen anywhere. I was honestly stunned. Since I couldn’t locate any tubs, I left the glass on a nearby table and walked out.

The whole interaction felt unnecessarily rude and left a bad impression. For a place in the hospitality business, this was a disappointing experience. I won’t be returning
