It's good food and the place offers lots of German traditional options. It's very guy crowded but it's totally worth. Very authentic. :)

I had side salad, and had best dressing I've possibly eaten creamy garlic. Im mad at my self for getting hamburger, and fries, they were good, but I've never eaten at German restaurant, and should of tried something new there.

We went in on a Saturday evening after hearing about this German place from a coworker. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed and not overly crowded which was nice. I tried the schnitzel with potato salad and it tasted fresh and filling. The portion size was decent too, I actually had some left to take home. My friend ordered sausages with sauerkraut and said it was good, though the mustard was a bit stronger than he expected. Service was polite and they checked on us a couple times. Nothing felt rushed. Overall it was a pleasant dinner and I would probably come back when I'm in the area again.

have been going to Metzgers since I was a teen - so let’s call it 40 years. They used to be in downtown Ann Arbor and I would go with my parents and grandparents. I love Metzgers and will continue to dine here for decades to come, bringing my children and grandchildren. Today, however, when my 6” tall beer arrived with well over an inch of foam plus some empty space, and my husband’s 32 ouncer had at least an inch and a half of foam, I was not a happy camper. This was a first for us. When we inquired, we were told it was by instructions of the owner. He says that that is what they do in Germany. I beg to differ. My husband lived in Germany for a time and did notice it (leaving a lot of foam on top of the beers) in Munich and at more touristy areas, but not in general. Regardless, THAT much foam is unappetizing (I scooped mine out with a spoon). My hunch is that this is more about cost savings than authenticity. Sure, it looks nice in a picture with a good head on the stein of beer. But it does not taste good and is a waste of my money. When we paid $17 for a 32 ouncer, there should be no more than an inch of foam in my opinion. So we were not happy about that. My stuffed cabbage was good but lukewarm. Hoping it will be better the next time we return - and there will be a next time.

I lived in Germany for 3 years. The ambience is incredible here. I love all the German Knick Knacks and decor. The waitress was extremely friendly and charismatic. On top of that, she was very helpful. The food was good too. The sausages were ok, not amazing or the best in the world, but still good. The egg noodles were also kind of bland but still not horrible. What really shined was the potato salad. It tastes exactly how my Grandmother makes it. She got her recipe from her mother, who immigrated from Germany. I highly recommend it.

Free bread and butter is also a great way to start the meal too.

I will definitely be returning!
